As the planets travel their orbital paths in our solar system, they move through the constellations represented by the signs of the zodiac. When planets shift into new signs, it signals a time where the energy can change and something new becomes available in us and in our world.

March 2010 - Part I

"On Monday, when the sun is hot,

I wonder to myself a lot:

'Now is it true, or is it not,

That what is which and which is what?'"

The Tao of Pooh, Benjamin Hoff

With Mercury, the planet of communication in sensitive Pisces from Mar 1 to Mar 17, the lines of demarcation and rational analysis are more diffuse than usual.  This actually makes five planets floating in this watery, intuitive region. So, while personal emotions may be a bit reactive, our deep inner knowing can be activated like high-tech radar. The medium is the message, and our intentions, body language, and affect can transmit and receive for those who listen beyond the words.

"Everybody's doing a brand new dance now.

(Come on, baby, do the Locomotion.)

I know you'll get to like it if you give it a chance now.

(Come on, baby do the Locomotion.)"

      Gerry Goffin/Carole King

What a great time for new rules or no rules, unusual social interactions and stimulating connections. When Venus conjuncts Uranus from

Mar 1-7, exact on Mar 3, look for unexpected gains, romance, and artistic inspiration. The temptation to throw caution to the wind may prevail, so be sure to discern between the path-finders and the players.

If you really want to get to the bottom of things, dig deep on Mar 2-7, exact on Mar 4, when Mercury and Pluto separate the wheat from the chaff.  The aspects on Mar 5 from the intense Scorpio Moon to the Nodes, Uranus, Neptune and Venus take us through mixed territory from practical alliances and innovations to an evening of musical or spiritual reverie and pleasant company.

From Mar 7 until Mar 31, Venus moves through fiery Aries, heating up our sense of adventure. Also, from Mar 3-11, exact on Mar 7, a number of favorable aspects collaborate to weave a rich fabric to enhance our enterprises and our lives. Venus trine Mars can present us with a variety of social, sexual, and financial opportunities.  Then Mercury and Jupiter expand our vision and remind us of the infinite possibilities that surround us.

From noon on Mar 8 - Mar 10, the Moon in Capricorn dons her professional garb, reminding us to stay grounded and take care of business.  Constricting aspects to Venus, Saturn, and Pluto on Mar 8 and 9 can feel pretty sobering, as we are prompted to reassess our priorities and responsibilities.  Yet these same circumstances may also motivate us to shift from the yoke of self-judgment we've been carrying (longer than we can remember why) to a mantle of understanding and forgiveness.

Yippee!  On Mar 10, the go-ahead we've been waiting for since Dec 20 finally turns green when Mars goes direct. Yes, we know that all that retrograde tempering gave us deeper insights and a more solid foundation for the future.  But, truth be told, just the thought of this start signal activating has us almost giddy with relief.  So, take the initiative and reach out for the world to meet you.

There just might be some additional issues that still need clearing up on the days surrounding Mar 11 when feisty Venus squares mighty Pluto.   Relationships and financial matters can be put through their paces as we assess our real values.  Structures based on control or manipulations are up for evaluation and reconstruction to make way for more sustainable constructs.

Fortunately, Mercury harmonizes with the Nodes on Mar 12, bringing us the information and perspective to balance our emotional and pragmatic needs.

On the morning of Mar13, the Moon conjunct Neptune and Chiron reminds us of our greater destiny and the promise of healing that we seek for our personal and global wounds.

On Mar 14 in the Northern Hemisphere, Daylight Savings Time comes in perfect synchronicity with the metaphor of additional light on our planet. With the Moon sextile Pluto, we're ready and willing to move with the changes that the visionary Piscean Sun and Mercury suggest. Then the Moon gently merges with Jupiter, re-invoking a message of optimism and hope to our transforming world.

"Limitless Love and Truth is the essence and personification of Revelation.  It is the living vision of the new.  At this time in human affairs, there is no more potent force."

            David Spangler, 1976

February 2010 - Part II

"Cherish your visions; cherish your ideals; cherish the music that stirs in your heart, the beauty that forms in your mind, the loveliness that drapes your purest thoughts, for out of them will grow all delightful conditions, all heavenly environment; of these, if you but remain true to them, your world will at last be built."

           James Allen

With Venus, Jupiter, and the Moon still snuggling up in Pisces on Feb 15, our waking dreams inspire us forward.  At the same time, the combined power of our emotions and desire for change draw in the resources and rewards that we seek, as Venus sextiles Pluto.  Grounding this energetic richness, Mars (still Retrograde) sextiles Saturn, making apparent the steps to solidify our projects for long-term productivity.

On Feb 16, both Neptune and Chiron harmonize with Juno, bringing out the mystical and compassionate nature in our exchanges.  With the Moon conjunct Uranus, the results may be surprising.  Throughout the day, the sweetness of Venus and Jupiter infuses all of our dealings, from sensual delights to jovial company and enjoyable interactions.

"Who are you?

(Who are you?  Who,who, who, who?)

I really wanna know

(Who are you?  Who, who, who, who?)

Tell me, who are you?

(Who are you?  Who, who, who, who?)

'Cause I really wanna know

(Who are you?  Who, who, who, who?)

      Peter Townsend

Neptune exactly conjuncts Chiron on Feb 17 and marks a spiritual portal in the timeline of sentient beings that we have been sensing for the past year.  Our lifelong wounds have been surfacing, agitating our concerns and amplifying our knee-jerk reactions to them. Dare we face our survival need for control that continues to repeat the same unfulfilling circumstances over and over? Can we accept and transcend our fear-based patterns and open to the possibility of a gentler experience of ourselves?  We stand at a doorway that invites us to not just think of a new way, but to be a new Being.

On Feb 18, the Sun dons his contemplative monk's robes as he moves into Pisces until Mar 20.  During this time, our compassionate, sensitive nature is heightened, as is our desire for inner peace.  With Venus sextile Poseidon and the Moon aligning with Neptune and Chiron, our pursuit for divine meaning may inspire deep personal realization.

The Moon in Taurus on Feb 19, 20 to mid-day on the 21st, helps to quantify our reveries and show us where the next steps are and where the gaps still remain.  Then the Moon in Gemini from mid Feb 21 to early evening on Feb 23 lightens our mood, tickles our funny bone, and sends us gathering facts (and acquaintances) in a number of directions.

For months, even years, we've been learning the difference between force and real power. Hopefully, we're realizing that the stress of trying to maintain dominant control is absolutely exhausting and futile. So, when the Sun sextiles Pluto on Feb 23, we do get the chance to effectively experience our heart-driven capacity to influence transformative change on both inner and outer circumstances.

From the evening of Feb 23 to the evening of Feb 25, the Moon in emotional Cancer gives us an experiential tour of the thesaurus of feelings.  Late night of the 23rd and wee hours of the 24th can dredge up any lingering sense of insecurity or challenge.  Then, aspects on Feb 24 smooth out the rough spots and reassure us of the support and resources beckoning to us.  Feb 25 may provide some surprising and uplifting interactions that motivate us to speak our truth without going overboard.

Intuitive hunches and inspirational solutions are possible from Feb 23 to early March when Mercury lines up with Neptune and Chiron, exact on Feb 27.  Pay attention to those gut feelings, as they may lead us to resolve long-standing conundrums in our lives and in our minds. With Venus also socializing with the North and South Nodes, emotional fulfillment and professional success are easily attainable.

February's Full Moon in Virgo on Feb 28 is also a Super Moon (closest to the Earth and in line with the Sun and Earth), exerting increased gravitational pull on our planet, our tides, our bodies, and our psyches.  With the Sun conjunct Jupiter in Pisces, we are presented with the concept and manifestation of our oneness with all and limitless possibility.  The challenge is to hold this infinite truth while avoiding exaggeration or falling for the hype of toxic chemically sweetened dessert.  The Moon in discerning Virgo helps to concretize our ideals and map a course for true service and personal authenticity.  For it is through this integration of our higher selves and our mundane living that our greatest destiny can be expressed.

"Come, come, come to the other shore.

Illusion is cast aside,

Worthy is the glow.

Come, let us gather on the shore

And enter our canoes of light

To traverse the seas of confusion."

February 2010 - Part I

"So we keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change
We keep on waiting
Waiting on the world to change"
     John Mayer

Although Retrograde Mars continues to advise us to schedule major new initiatives after March 10, there's plenty for us to devise, create, and reap this busy month.  Besides, the continued pressure from Saturn square Pluto into March makes it clear that there is no "they" who will fix things for us.  Much of our economic and political disillusionment is reminiscent of the mantra from the 1960s to "not trust anyone over 30" - except that now that's most of us!  And so our only way out of the current challenges is through personal responsibility, accepting limitations, and the mapping of a new order together.  Happily, this February is also rich in opportunities to grow socially and financially.

With the Moon in detail-oriented Virgo on Feb 1, we start out in good data sorting form. The Libran Moon on Feb 2 usually provides a calming influence; however, harsh aspects to Saturn and Pluto can challenge our equilibrium.  Then, favorable lunar interactions on Feb 3 restore our sense of well-being and harmony.  Also on Wednesday, communications reconfirm that we're on the right track when Mercury conjuncts the North Node.

The Moon in Scorpio from mid-day Feb 4 to the evening of Feb 6 takes us on a typically intense ride, enabling us to solve deeply rooted mysteries on Feb 4 with the possibility of emotional backlash on Feb 5.

Feb 6, 7, and 8 feature an array of influential aspects for success that reverberate through much of February.  This summit of power brokers begins with the auspicious sextile of Jupiter and Pluto on Feb 6, broadening the opportunity to exert personal and public influence for major change with long-lasting effects.  During this same period, Mercury sextiles Uranus, setting off a chain reaction of clever ideas and innovative applications.  This is the time to step out and try those unique methods you've been contemplating.  Or perhaps someone else might unexpectedly appear and suggest an unusual solution to a long standing quagmire.

When loving Venus conjuncts Chiron and Neptune in Aquarius on Feb 7 and 8, the barriers between individuals, groups, and even countries may finally be seen as the arbitrary divisions that they are.  Engaging in this energy of empathy and compassion can go a long way to heal our wounded relationships and restore a sense of unity to our communities and our world.  As an added perk, Magi astrology considers this Venus/Chiron to be a Super Aspect that is extremely fortunate and promotes increase in all matters of business, money, and love!  Perhaps an early Valentine's Day is in the stars. The Moon in Capricorn on Feb 9-11 heads us in the direction of taking care of business.  This no-nonsense lunar logic has us cleaning up our scattered pick-up sticks on the 9th to clear the way for rewarding, organized progress for the next few days.  Smart, keen, farsighted, and astute - that's Mercury in Aquarius from Feb 10 until Mar 1. This winged messenger should help to keep our perspective clear and our intellect entertained. That heavenly harp music you hear from Feb 11 to Mar 7 is the universe's way of welcoming Venus into Pisces, her favorite place to play.  Love, romance, and abundance are the calling cards of this selfless lady; so reach out and be filled up.  Just be sure to maintain some grounding so that the outflow doesn't exceed the inflow.  Actually, when Mercury trines Saturn on Feb 12, any excesses can be simply corrected.  Utilize this practical thinking duo to make reorganization feel like a breeze. When Mercury opposes Mars, just prior to the New Moon on Feb 13, our repressed frustration may come out as irritation or anger.  We might better use this polarization productively in organized debate or a few mediated quick fixes. Besides, the truth is: "We are the world

We are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
So let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day, just you and me"
     Michael Jackson/Lionel Richie

If ever a song was composed for the spirit of the Feb 13 New Moon, this is it.  With Mercury, the Moon, Sun, Chiron, and Neptune all in Aquarius, the reawakening of a collective consciousness that values global, social, and spiritual ideals is upon us. In addition, our exponentially expanding technologies will continue to provide innovative platforms and mechanisms to develop and execute this new paradigm.  Add Venus, Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces, and individual and collaborative creativity knows no bounds.  This is a rare time, and awareness of our interconnectedness in the midst of rebirth can produce miracles. What could be more delightful than the Moon, Venus, and Jupiter conjunct in dreamy Pisces on Feb 14, Valentine's Day!?!  This is the time that romantic getaways and beautiful flowers are made for.  If you don't happen to have an intimate relationship, be sure to treat yourself to your favorite guilty pleasures, along with some exquisite chocolates.  As the Sun conjuncts Neptune and Chiron, our cherished dreams and highest ideals are in the forefront, inspiring us to seek their fulfillment.  And with the support and wisdom of the Chinese New Year of the Tiger empowering us, these visions can surely be brought to manifestation.
