-- The Moody Blues
February commences with a conglomeration of aspects that
encourage us to be ourselves while exercising moderation in our expression. On Feb 1, Retrograde Mars
spars with Mercury, then Venus, pressing buttons like a claustrophobic stuck in
an elevator. While the Mars/Venus opposition may raise passions, the paradox
between idealism and reality can effect a cold shower. Fortunately, the Sun's
alliance with the Nodes helps keep our balance and reminds us of the principles
we hold true.
The Moon in chatty Gemini until Feb 4 should keep events relatively sociable for the next few days.

On Feb 3, Neptune
re-enters its home sign of Pisces until 2026.
While the initial effects of this shift may be subtle, the long-term impact has
the potential to awaken our deepest spiritual and creative longings. Back in
his home base for the first time in 165 years, Neptune offers the ultimate
commitment to service and the infinite Joy that comes from release of control and
Divine merging. He's not interested in the world of matter. Although he rules
the seas and infuses the arts, his sensitive nature belongs in the dreamy
mystical realms of other dimensions.
For the unevolved, Neptunian energy can signal confusion,
illusion, drugs, and dissipation. To those committed to a path of expanded
consciousness, flowing with Neptune is the Greater Way.
From Feb 4 to the
morning of Feb 6, the Moon hopes for
some relaxation in her Cancer abode. Initially, she appears to get her wishes
from supportive Saturn and Neptune right after midnight; however, Uranus acts
up just before 5 am until Jupiter intervenes a few hours later. Then around 5
pm, in line with our recent monthly cardinal line-ups, Pluto plumbs the depths
with his version of truth or dare. Thankfully, aspects on Feb 5 provide some space for respite or Super Bowl and hot wing
indulgence.
The Moon in fiery Leo from 8:24 am on Feb 6 adds a bit of brightness to the week as we move into
anticipation of the next day's Full Lunation.
The Full Moon in Leo on Feb
7 can dramatize the need to express our feelings without losing sight of a
bigger picture. Here is where we're called to act from our own deep heart's
desires in collaboration with a vision for all humanity. Mercury is closely conjoined
with the Aquarian Sun, so communication can seem imperative, but it may not
come out exactly as intended. In the midst of checking to be sure the messages
sent are the messages received, Saturn announces his retrograde movement in the
last degree of Libra until Jun 25.
Just when we thought we had this Libran relationship stuff sort of figured out,
we get another chance to complete the areas we missed.
At the witching hour of 1:01 am on Feb 8, Venus moves from romantic Pisces into "my way or the
highway" Aries until March 5.
For those with boundary or savior issues, this should shore up the
independence. Then on Feb 9, Lady
Luna may throw caution to the wind as she partners up with experimental Uranus.
You said you wanted spontaneous and exciting change, didn't you? Hopefully, the
Moon in Virgo today until mid-afternoon tomorrow will supply a modicum of
propriety.
From 2:54 pm on Feb
10 until 5:01 pm on Feb 12, the
Moon in justice-seeking Libra goes on her holy quest. The rebels she seeks are
not far away, as Uranus and Venus oppose her the evening of the 10th, and
unexpected reactions may provide surprising revelations. By the morning of Feb 11 Pluto adds his say, and no rock
is left unturned. For most of Sunday, Feb
12, the lunar aspects foretell an interesting day, at least until 4:09 pm
when the Moon joins serious Saturn. Gratefully Luna slips into Scorpio and
immediately concurs with Neptune for a lovely evening.
If you've got a project that needs mapping, Mercury and
Saturn are available and perfect for the job on Feb 13. By 8:38 pm though, Messenger Mercury shifts professions as
he moves from clever Aquarius to mystical Pisces until Mar 02. Not so much the planner any more, he is, however, now a
revered seer.
Early on Feb 14,
Mercury joins Neptune whispering Valentine's Day endearments as delectable as
the finest gourmet chocolates. A conjunction of Mercury, Neptune, and Pallas
can be creatively imaginative. Just be certain to test the theory before use. Right
before 8 pm, the Moon shifts into Sagittarius where actions speak louder than
words. After 8:41 pm, lunar interaction with Neptune, Pallas, and Mercury can
get a bit hazy, so enjoy the ride, but defer your commitments until the way is
more grounded and clear. With Jupiter and Pluto in auspicious trine all month,
concrete opportunities may further many goals and ambitions.

January 2012 - Part II
"And I'll be...
Taking care of business, every day
Taking care of business every way.
I've been taking care of business, it's all mine.
Taking care of business and working overtime.
Work out!"
-- Randy Bachman
As we move into the second half of January, realization that the upcoming Mars retrograde is fast approaching its Jan 23 arrival is suddenly in our face. While the warrior planet's usual assertive pace is now diminishing, we can still plant the seeds for a fruitful spring crop. Mars, already in Virgo, is currently helping us to sort out our goals and set a few new ones, especially regarding our health, our work, and our ways of daily functioning (or dysfunctioning). Set things in motion now and let the retrograde period until April 14 show you how to navigate and what to eliminate.
When Venus and Chiron join in Pisces on Jan 16, a sense of spiritual idealism infuses our values, especially in relation to money and romance. With the Moon in incisive Scorpio until 2:29 pm on Jan 18, lunar aspects will balance our visions with depth and strength.
It's time to get serious when the Sun squares Saturn on Jan 19. Responsibility and common sense should guide our responses, while our hard-earned efforts can pay off now. The Moon in Sagittarius conjoins the North Node, reaffirming the validity of our own wisdom.
Yahoo! On Jan 20, the Sun shifts from conventional Capricorn to innovative Aquarius until Feb 19. Also on the 20th, Venus and Pluto agree to a joint venture that could benefit those who reach for the opportunity. The evening may hold a few surprises, but Jupiter intervenes and good will prevails.
How much is too much? Well, when the Sun sextiles independent Uranus and squares expansive Jupiter on Jan 21 and 22, change is the means and more is the message.
"Together we'll stand, divided we'll fall
Come on now people let's get on the ball
And work together, come on, come on
Let's work together, now, now people...
People, when things go wrong as they sometimes will,
And the road you travel, it stays all uphill,
Let's work together, come on, come on
Let's work together...
Oh well now, come on you people, walk hand in hand.
Let's make this world of ours a good place to stand
And work together, come on, come on
Let's work together, now, now people.
Because together we will stand
Every boy, girl, woman, and man"
-- Wilbert Harrison for Canned Heat
Like each one of us, every New Moon has its own particular combination of qualities and gifts perfectly crafted for the emerging stage of evolution. The New Moon in Aquarius on Jan 23 calls for embracing our human commonalities while celebrating the unique gifts each individual contributes to the greater whole. Old forms that separate or limit us are breaking apart, making room for both greater freedom and an expanded collective consciousness. This day also begins the Chinese Year of the Dragon, which signifies non-conformity, honor, and mystical, heavenly power. The Dragon, as a legendary creature, is able to penetrate the heights and the depths while thriving on the ground, in the sky, and on the water.
Just prior to Mars setting off on his retrograde vision quest, he confers with Mercury to set the GPS for the most efficient and productive route. Then off he goes on a walkabout geared for review, research, and renovation until April 14. While this is not the time to premiere new projects, it is ideal for taking stock of what has been, and for beta testing for future launches, personally and professionally. The assessment applies to all facets of our lives. Where is your energy invested, and is it paying off now or likely in the foreseeable future? Identify what is stagnant and what is worth salvaging, and redirect your resources. During this cycle, focus on effort that supports health, growth, consciousness, and evolution. The rest will naturally fall into place around this core. If you haven't already, check out Mars Retrograde for more details.
Uranus conjoins Ceres on Jan 24, and voices speaking for social and economic equity are building in numbers and strength. With gentle Venus sparring with the Nodes, it's tricky to hold compassion when dealing with righteousness and mental constructs.
The Moon in Pisces from early on Jan 25 until 1:28 pm on Jan 27 adds a sweetness to our fare - at least until late evening on the 26th. That's when Mars might be acting out his picky side and Luna's tolerance may be wearing thin.
Just before his entry into clever Aquarius, Mercury in late Capricorn bumps heads with Saturn on Jan 27, leaving us feeling stuck in mental mud. Just hang loose, as Mercury's shift into innovative Aquarius a few hours later will shake free the rigidity and reveal unexpected solutions and perspectives until Feb 13.
As Venus and Vesta merge on Jan 28, a sense of the divine feminine infuses our world to empower the effects of receptive strength. Our minds are further enlightened by flashes of brilliance as Mercury and Uranus intertwine their circuits, with extreme amplification of this from Jupiter.
From Jan 30 through the end of the month, the Moon in Taurus turns our attention to matters of the senses and earthly affairs. While the 30th starts off with reassurance from Jupiter, Mercury clamors for attention late morning, hijacking our feelings of security. By dinnertime, mighty Pluto has intervened and the gain side of the ledger signals success. Favorable aspects to Mars and Venus on the 31st enable us to accomplish a lot and enjoy the course. Though the retrograde Mars may slow down outcomes, this deeper process enriches our understanding and our experience.

January 2012 - Part I
"All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
There's nothing you can know that isn't known.
Nothing you can see that isn't shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be.
It's easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
-- John Lennon/Paul McCartney
We could start our look at 2012 by analyzing the unusual number of retrograde inner planets and how to avoid the pitfalls of inopportune timing. Or, we could list the squares of Uranus and Pluto with one another, and any other sensitive points, to try to defend our lives against the inevitable unexpected. And, yes, the gift of astrological delineation is quite a nifty Trip Tik planner along our life path journey. But as I lay awake in the middle of the night, obsessing about the multitude of possibilities Neptune might inflict when he squares my mutable planets in the coming year, I was suddenly immersed in the realization that the only paradigm I can shift is my own. This concept that I had long easily accepted in my mind had finally taken root in my feelings. Duh... We can think brilliant thoughts and suppose lofty principles, but real living is an energetic experience, best nurtured by Love. So I'm proposing that we all just slow down, set aside our agendas, and enter the New Year simply connecting with the feeling of our hearts overflowing with love, and pass it on. It's easy.
With all that said, there are still some practical considerations that could tinge our New Year's revelry. Around 1 am and after, both Mercury and Mars and the Sun and Moon are at odds, diminishing our patience, tolerance, and common sense. So please drive sober and pay extra attention to those who aren't. By early morning and through the day, Jan 1 should provide enjoyable conversations and interactions.
The Moon's opposition to Saturn on Jan 2 may advocate responsibility rather than relaxation; but, by late afternoon and into the evening, the atmosphere eases and smiles predominate.
"They say it's your birthday.
It's my birthday too - yeah.
They say it's your birthday.
We're gonna have a good time.
I'm glad it's your birthday.
Happy birthday to you."
-- John Lennon/Paul McCartney
With the Sun/Pluto harmonizing with the Moon/Jupiter, Jan 3 is a good day to do things differently and enjoy the change. It's also a great day for a Birthday Solar Return for Stephen Stills, J.R.R. Tolkien, and yours truly.
While the Moon in Taurus squares Venus early on Jan 4, her meetup with Mars later stimulates vitality and dynamic action.
The Gemini Moon from early morning on Jan 5 until 4:05 pm on Jan 7 raises our sociability rating and our openness to try something new. Also on Jan 6, Pluto is sextile Vesta, opening the way for productive personal or social transformation, so be open to reform.
Sharing his philosophical wisdom in the late degrees of Sagittarius, Messenger Mercury is sextile Neptune, Saturn, and Apollon on Jan 7, giving roots and wings to visionary concepts.
Mercury enters pragmatic Capricorn, ready to add the concrete aspects to his ideas from Jan 8 until Jan 27. It's a great start, as he trines Jupiter, spreading benefits, especially for those with early degrees in earth and water signs. However, Mercury's next step is more off the grid, as he squares Uranus in a tug-of-war with radical notions and unexpected turns, heading us right into an emotional Full Moon on Jan 9.
"Oh, yes I'm the great pretender,
Pretending that I'm doing well;
My need is such, I pretend too much.
I'm lonely but no one can tell.
Too real is this feeling of make-believe,
Too real when I feel what my heart can't conceal;
Oh, yes, I'm the great pretender,Just laughing and gay like a clown;
I seem to be what I'm not, you see,
I'm wearing my heart like a crown..."
-- Buck Ram - for The Platters
This Cancer Full Moon opposing the Capricorn Sun on Jan 9 highlights the gap between our vulnerable emotional search for security and the external challenges of a material world. At first glance, our sensitive, spiritual nature may seem too fragile to survive what may be demanded of us. Old programming and patterns would have us believe that we must choose between our inner nature and outer support, but the increasing awareness of a more expansive consciousness is revealing a different story. In addition, the illumination from this lunation may uncover both our own insecurities and the chinks in the armor of outdated standards.
With help from Mars in discriminating Virgo enabling us identify those pieces that no longer fit, we can begin the process of reformulating an authentic identity that utilizes the best of both worlds.
The Moon in generous Leo, late on Jan 9 until 4:44 am on Jan 12, keeps us uplifted, especially on the 10th when Jupiter and Uranus add their spice to the mix. Also on Jan 10, Saturn and Apollon exactly conjoin, symbolizing success and fairness in areas of global education, science, and commerce.
Lunar aspects from Mercury and Pluto to the Moon in Virgo on Jan 12 help us to organize our data into plans that are productive and insightful. That evening, the Sun joins the alignment for a powerhouse of efficiency. Hmm, anyone for inputting your QuickBooks tax information?
Jan 13 marks a day that carries us through a variety of intense energies. Early on, a Venus/Saturn trine has us deciding which relationship and financial issues we want to take seriously. Then Mercury and Pluto enter the scene and penetrate wherever we focus. Our words can have a profound effect, so watch for too many absolutes. Just as we were getting down to the bottom line, a Venus/Neptune conjunction softens our concentration and gentles our judgments. Okay, perhaps a visit to a museum or a session of creative crafts is in order.
Compassion and artistic and spiritual values can take center stage as Venus shifts into her exalted Pisces from Jan 14 until Feb 8. While these romantic visions may feel so sweet, be sure to keep one foot on the ground. The rest of the 14th is another compendium of mixed messages, with the Moon in gentle Libra opposing unpredictable Uranus for a morning kick-off. You might want to skip the am caffeine and reach for chamomile tea today. Later that evening, Venus and Jupiter opt for a pleasure break, offering all kinds of goodies. Unfortunately, the spell may be broken by nosy Pluto squaring the Moon and bringing up any lingering pesky issues again.
With Lady Luna yet in Libra on Jan 15, fairness and balance in our relationships still tops the list. Favorable lunar aspects to the Nodes promise confirmation of our own sense of what is real. Plus the Moon aligned with Zeus empowers our inner sense of direction toward our true goals.

December 2011 - Part II
"Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens,
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,
Brown paper packages tied up with strings,
These are a few of my favorite things."
Dreidels and candles in shiny menorahs,
Latkes with applesauce and chocolate Torahs,
Chanukah presents as everyone sings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
Meditation and chanting in accordance with dharma,
Compassion and kindness to clean up our karma,
Reaching for enlightenment on infinite wings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
When Venus squares Saturn on Dec 18, it's time to decide what our favorite things really are, and what we're willing to adjust to preserve them. These values can apply to finances, relationships, and our response to varied interactions. Where and how is it worth conserving in order to engage elsewhere? With both planets in each other's home signs, equitable resolution is favored.
In the same vein of commitment, on Dec 19 the Sun sextiles Saturn and our focus on productive results can pay off.
Venus shifts from conservative Capricorn into eclectic Aquarius from Dec 20 until Jan 13. Anyone or anything that resembles "unusual" or humanitarian will get our attention, as long as there is plenty of space for individual expression. Also on the 20th, visionary exploration is encouraged by the harmonious combination of the Sun and Neptune. While later, expansive new ideas may intrigue us, be mindful of any excessive risk that the Venus/Jupiter square may dangle before us.
Early on Dec 21, the first day of Chanukah, unexpected romance or finance may catch our fancy as Venus and Uranus flash their glittering lights.
The usually traditional Winter Solstice (summer in Southern Hemisphere) in Capricorn from Dec 22 to Jan 20 may hold some surprise cards behind that poker-face. Fortunately, this loyal Sun is trine Jupiter, promising more than a hint of auspicious outcomes. However, in the meantime, we can feel the shake-up of the Sun square disruptive Uranus, defying the status quo that no longer supports our growth.
Opportunity continues to present as the Sun sextiles Chiron on Dec 23, inviting us to respond to the invitation.
"What you find- ah
What you feel now
What you know-ah
To be real...
You know that your love is my love
My love is your love
Our love is here to stay."
-- David Paich/David Foster/Cheryl Lynn
The lunar aspects leading up to the New Moon in Capricorn on Dec 24 foretell the profound significance of this kick-off to 2012. Challenging aspects to Uranus preview the radical shifts to come, not only in this lunar month, but right on through 2015. Plus the conjunction to Pluto and his square-offs with Uranus mark ongoing changes to our tunnel-visioned way of life. It's time to discard the pretext and be real. All the old repressed motives are about to surface into the light for transformation or recycling. In support of these changes, beneficent Jupiter brings faith and resources to Grace the way from fear to Love. Avoidance and denial are merely unsustainable detours. The continuous messages tell us that the way out is right through all that's been suppressed into an authentic paradigm that comes from the heart.
On Dec 25, Christmas Day, Jupiter again directs his forward movement in Taurus, amplifying our trust in positive reform and abundant living.
The Moon in impartial Aquarius from noon on Dec 26 to the evening of Dec 28 helps us to reconnect to a larger, unified social sphere personally and globally. With Mercury conjoined the North Node, the worldly response also mirrors our loftier beliefs.
The Capricorn Sun joined with mighty Pluto on Dec 29 may reveal still stagnant pools of shadow and polarization yet to be transformed. However, once these areas are uncovered, the process of real change can begin.
Happily, on Dec 31 the year ends with luminous Venus collaborating with the Nodes of the Moon to integrate the best of what has been with our choice of infinite possibilities, yet to be revealed.

December 2011 - Part I
"Feeling's gettin' stronger
Music's gettin' longer too
Music is flashin' me
I want to, I want to, I want to take you higher
Baby, baby, baby light my fire
Boom shaka-laka-laka
Boom shaka-laka-laka
(doo-do-do, doo-do-do
Hey !Hey! Hey!)"
-- Sly and the Family Stone
The fiery rhythms of Sagittarius light up the December skies, as even Mercury retrograde in this adventurous sign takes us higher and deeper. It's time to reconnect with our inner knowing to make it part of our daily functioning.
Venus and Pluto join forces in Capricorn on Dec 1 to raise our financial quotient while provoking deep introspection regarding our values and sense of self-esteem. For those willing to release arbitrary designations of personal worth, this is a doorway to transformation. Harmonious aspects to the Moon in Pisces can also soothe any misgivings and restore faith.
Extended delays and short tempers may cause conflicts when the Sun squares the Moon then Mars on Dec 2. It's best to keep reactions brief and patience long. Mercury conjoining the North Node can help maintain a more expansive view.
On the evening of Dec 3, the Moon enters Aries and conjoins unpredictable Uranus, adding a caffeinated jolt to the night's interactions.
For much of Dec 4, impatience and insistent proclamations may jangle communications and nerves, as Mercury, the Sun, and Mars spar for supremacy. Rather than agitate, cogitate to calm the ego-defender.
Most folks get the metaphor of Mars and Venus, and cheer up at the mention of their positive interactions. On Dec 5, harmonious aspects between this magnetic couple can signal rewarding relationships, finances, and a good time had by all.
The Moon in Taurus from the morning of Dec 6 to the evening of Dec 8 heightens our desire to get comfortable and enjoy life's bounty. With supportive lunar aspects to Chiron, Jupiter, Mars, and Venus, our wishes may manifest professionally and personally on the 6th and 7th.
Dreamy visions and romantic expectations ride on the zephyrs of the Moon squaring Neptune on Dec 8, birthday of both my sister and her precious year-old granddaughter, Jessica Rose.
Too much information can push some buttons on Dec 9 as the Moon in Gemini opposes Mercury and later squares antsy Mars. It's best to keep your cool, especially with the Eclipse about to debut.
"Once upon a time, I was falling in love,
But now I'm only falling apart.
Nothing I can do,
A total eclipse of the heart."
-- Jim Steinman
The Total Eclipse of the Full Moon in Gemini on Dec 10 marks the disintegration of mental programs that impede the flow of our newly-emerging consciousness. With the Moon conjunct the Gemini South Node and the Sun conjoined with the Sagittarius North Node, intellectual rationales are stripped away like a whirling dervish to make room for higher dimensions of understanding. Adding to these revolutionary changes, radical Uranus shifts into direct movement also on the 10th until July of 2012. Sometimes, we just have to disassemble in order to lighten our load for a major quantum leap to take place.
From the morning of Dec 11 until late afternoon on Dec 13, the Moon in nurturing Cancer seeks safety and security. Unfortunately, challenging lunar aspects to Uranus and Pluto keep us guessing where to find that soft landing place. Thanks to intermittent intervention from Neptune, Jupiter, and Chiron, a sense of unseen guidance and protection infuses the journey and calms our doubts. Then, just in time, late on Dec 13, Mercury resumes his forward movement, slowly picking up speed to the end of December.
On Dec 14, the Moon in playful Leo collaborates with the Nodes, making sure we're on track and ready to wish Minkyching a very Happy Special Birthday.
For much of the day, Dec 15 is richly laden with productive and energetic aspects that promise good feeling, along with practical success.
The Moon in analytical Virgo from 10:59 pm on Dec 15 until the early hours of Dec 18 can gear us up for greater efficiency - for the most part. With picky Mars in Virgo trying to run the show, watch out for reruns of The Perfection Monster on our mental Syfy channel. In any case, a few cloves of garlic and some vervain should keep us safe and sound.

November 2011 - Part II
"Help! I need somebody,
Help! Not just anybody,
Help! You know I need someone,
Help!
When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way,
But now these days are gone I'm not so self-assured.
Now I find I've changed my mind I've opened up the doors.
Help me if you can, I'm feeling down,
And I do appreciate you being around,
Help me get my feet back on the ground.
Won't you please, please, help me?
Help me. Help me."
-- John Lennon/Paul McCartney
Mid-November, the Moon in sensitive, security-seeking Cancer puts us through our paces, revealing previously buried areas of vulnerability. This venture into hidden caches of emotion may feel unfamiliar; yet, our willingness to acknowledge our apprehension and reach out can evoke welcome breakthroughs, especially as Luna moves into valiant Leo on Nov 16. Also on the 16th, Mars in precise Virgo exactly aligns with Jupiter in fertile Taurus, marking a very fortuitous time to pursue projects and manifest abundant resources. This productive energy continues into early December, fueled by potent Pluto, even through the detours of a Retrograde Mercury Nov 24 until Dec 14.
Positive connections continue on Nov 17 with congenial lunar aspects to the Nodes, Mercury, and Venus. To further raise the sweetness quotient, Venus joins Cupido, also known as Super Venus, and our day resembles a confectionery dream.
Until mid-afternoon on Nov 18, tense lunar contact with the Sun and then Neptune may alter our perceptions. Fortunately, the Moon's entry into analytical Virgo from 5:20 pm until Nov 20 at 8:17 pm brings us back to Earth and practical pursuits -- well, mostly. While Mercury conjoined Cupido may elevate our thoughts, the Sun square Neptune can be dizzying in this rarified atmosphere. Altruistic ideals may be overrated or impractical, so hold off on those revival testimonials.
Late on Nov 20 and early on the 21st, challenges from Uranus and Pluto may agitate the usual Libran lunar calm to show us which issues are yet to be settled.
Nov 22 starts out with an air of stability as Venus sextiles Saturn to reassure us that there indeed will be a future. And then, the acceleration resumes.
"Listen to the ground;
There is movement all around.
There is something goin' down, and I can feel it.
On the waves of the air,
There is dancin' out there.
If it's somethin' we can share,
We can steal it....
Night fever, night fever; we know how to do it.
Gimme the night fever, night fever; we know how to show it."
-- Barry Gibb/Maurice Ernest Gibb/Robin Hugh Gibb
When the Sun shifts into outgoing Sagittarius from Nov 22 until Dec 22, we're ready to don our dancing shoes and head for adventure! While a Moon/Saturn conjunction reminds us of responsibilities, optimistic cheers from Mercury, Venus, Neptune, and Chiron fan the celebratory flames. Luckily, the Moon moves into penetrating Scorpio from 8:59 pm on Nov 22 until the same time on Nov 24, helping to focus us on our last minute preparation for Mercury Retrograde.
The wind beneath our sails may lift us up and turn us facing toward unexpected opportunity for new beginnings on Nov 23, as the Sun trines Uranus. Also in the spirit of change on the 23rd, Mars and Pluto collaborate to give us the power to effect real gains in many arenas.
On the U.S. Thanksgiving Day, Nov 24 at 2:12 am, Mercury goes Retrograde in Sagittarius until Dec 14. As this fiery mutable sign encourages us to take risks and leap ahead, we may want to downshift into second gear for the duration of this retrograde movement. Rash decisions and impulsive statements could come back to haunt us like stale candy corn. Also on the 24th, while Venus and Neptune can be dreamily inspirational, do limit your Holiday libations before recklessly carving that unsuspecting turkey.
Get ready for the New Moon Sagittarian Solar Eclipse on Nov 25 at 1:10 am! With the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and North Node in the sign of the Heavenly Archer, our sights are set on the skies and future possibilities. What do we believe and how well do we walk our talk? It's easy to get caught up in the dogma of our principles and miss the spirit of them. With Mars in Virgo, impatience can be replaced by attention to the present moment and the satisfaction of clearing any backlog one precious step at a time. We are being invited to expand our vision of a more infinitely connected future while we clear the way for it to unfold.
Venus dons her Capricorn professional garb from Nov 26 until Dec 20. However, on the 26th, her square to rebel Uranus may manifest as anything other than conservative. Later that evening, the Moon joins Venus in this usually proper venue, also throwing caution to the wind.
By Nov 27 and 28, more grounded elements take over and steer us onto a steadier track. Venus trine Jupiter in sensory Earth signs encourages us to appreciate human accomplishment and our experience in a tactile body.
Early on Nov 29 through the end of the November, the Moon in innovative Aquarius reflects her light in ways that inspire and motivate us to better our lives and our world.

November 2011 - Part I
"Incense and peppermints, meaningless nouns
Turn on, turn in, turn your eyes around.
Look at yourself, look at yourself, yeah, yeah.
Look at yourself, look at yourself, yeah, yeah!"
--John Carter,Jr/Tim Gilbert/Ed King/Mark Weitz
-- Strawberry Alarm Clock
The fantasies of Halloween seem to drift on into Nov 1 as Mercury, planet of the intellect, squares nebulous Neptune. Is it inspiration or illusionary gibberish? By mid-afternoon and the evening, helpful lunar aspects may prompt us to express our sentiments poetically.
From the evening of Nov 1 until early on Nov 4, the Moon in eclectic Aquarius can lighten our mood and scintillate our minds. On Nov 2, the Sagittarian fiery wanderlust and penchant for new horizons begins to build as Venus and Mercury enter this bold sign. Venus may have us seeking adventure and even magnetizing relationships from far-away places into our lives until Nov 26. In this impatient garb, Mercury may miss some of the details, but the principles will be loud and clear all the way until Jan 8, 2012 (with a retrograde detour from Nov 24 through Dec 13.)
We may feel a pull between our vision of a better world and the desire for immediate action when Venus, then Mercury, square Chiron on Nov 2 -3.Then the fiery Venus/Mercury team catalyze some real sparks as they trine Uranus, attracting unexpected relationships, resources, and innovative ideas for most of the 3rd. Lunar aspects opposing Mars that evening may surface some tender spots, but later contact with Apollon and Neptune should bring a higher vision.
The Moon in sweet Pisces from Nov 4 until Nov 6 at 2:02 pm adds a touch of romance to our days. Early morning squares to Mercury/Venus on the 4th may feel impulsive, but support from optimistic Jupiter and powerful Pluto ensure a fulfilling time.
The Moon in Aries from mid-afternoon on Nov 6 until the wee hours of Nov 9 accelerates the pace. It could be the extra hour of sleep as we change to standard time, or perhaps the conjunction to speedy Uranus that propels us. A lunar square to Pluto may take us on a 1:15 am dream into biblical apocalypse. But all's well that ends well, and intervention from Mercury and Venus save the day/night.
When Mars opposes Neptune early on Nov 7, our get-up-and-go may feel like it got up and went. Just take it easy and fortify with some extra B12 and energizing aromatherapy. In the spirit of Neptunian illusion, do avoid get-rich-quick schemes and anyone selling a bridge to Brooklyn.
When the Aries Moon opposes Libran Saturn early afternoon on Nov 8, the best tactic is to seek a balance between our pressing personal wants and compassionate ways to include the needs of others in the equation. By late evening, gentle aspects to Neptune should ease the way.
On Nov 9, spiritual Neptune goes direct after five months of incubating our dreams and ideals. By Feb 3, 2012, he'll be functioning from his Piscean home domain for the next 14 years. Although the results of this transition leading to a more compassionate, idealistic world may be gradual, we know the long-term power of water to effect major change over time!
"Every time it rains, it rains
Pennies from heaven
Don't you know each cloud contains
Pennies from heaven
You'll find your fortune's falling
All over town
Be sure that your umbrella
Is upside down
Trade them for a package of
Sunshine and flowers
If you want the things you love,
You gotta have showers
So when you hear it thunder,
Don't run under a tree
There'll be pennies from heaven
For you and me"
-- Arthur Johnston/Johnny Burke
The Full Moon in Taurus with the Sun in Scorpio on Nov 10 brings to light our values regarding power, finances, control, and transformation in all areas of our lives. Centuries of defensive survival patterns have continued to run us in circles as tapes on a loop. Our Taurean fear-based habits might have us holding on tighter and tighter to what's already outlived its usefulness, ignorant of the divine bounty that joyfully awaits us. And, like the Scorpio Sun, we can insist on a fight to the death or become the phoenix, reborn out of its own ashes. To add to this energetic movement, Chiron goes direct in Pisces today, infusing us with his subtle healing for a gentler, more inclusive society. We stand at a pivotal crossroad, and the choice toward authentic, empowered living is before us.
To help us master the practical steps for our new foundation, also on Nov 10, Mars shifts into analytical Virgo, where he will remain for an amazing eight months! While he may get a bit cranky about the details, this Martian persona is a whiz at efficiency and healthy existence to get us in tiptop shape.
From Nov 11 at 3:11 p.m. until early on Nov 14, Lady Luna skips into Gemini to eliminate any possibility of boredom. Early on the 11th, a square to Neptune may fog our way, so drive with your low beams and stay within the field of vision. In the late afternoon, Lunar challenges to Mars and Chiron may up the irritability quotient. Just remain aware and this too shall pass as Uranus brings unexpected realizations and treats.
On Nov 12, Lunar oppositions to Mercury, Venus, and the North Node may push us into data overload, so slow down and pay attention.
In perfect order, Venus, then Mercury, conjoin the North Node on Nov 13 and 14, reconfirming our ability to rely on our individual guidance and the higher consciousness that connects us to a more infinite reality.

October 2011- Part II
"To know the Way,
We go the Way;
We do the Way
The way we do
The things we do.
It's all there in front of you."
--Benjamin Huff, The Tao of Pooh
The Gemini Moon on Oct 17 facilitates versatile communication for much of the day. By mid-afternoon, Mercury opposes Jupiter, and discussions and negotiations can expand our options. Avoid a tendency toward grandiose thinking, and mind the small print for successful outcomes. The Moon's trine to Neptune around dinnertime adds a touch of imagination and tenderness.
From 9:39 p.m. on Oct 17 until early morning on Oct 20, the Moon in sensitive Cancer takes us through a seminar on "Emotional Intelligence for Dummies." Fortunately, Lesson #1 on dealing with personal reactivity occurs around 1 a.m. in the astral plane for most of us. The Moon/Pluto opposition early on Oct 18 could jolt us out of bed as it unearths our suppressed concerns. Having gotten that out of our system, the rest of the day should run splendidly with lunar support from Jupiter, Mercury, and Venus.
Early on Oct 19, Mercury joins Poseidon to remind us of the spiritual dimensions our consciousness can attain. Heartened by this realization, we can move through a potentially frustrating Moon square Saturn/Sun and focus on equalizing our desires and current circumstances.
When Lady Luna slips on her Leo party dress early on Oct 20 until Oct 22, our self-confidence and creative genes shift into high gear. Then aspects to inventive Uranus help release old patterns and implement emotional shifts. At 5:39 p.m. Luna's square to Jupiter may amplify feelings out of proportion, yet benevolence and generosity can also come from real caring.
Step out and share your personal and professional creativity and wisdom on Oct 21 when the Sun conjuncts Apollon and trines Neptune. This dynamic trio can set the stage for worldly success and fame, so be courageous and ride this current.
From 10:42 a.m. on Oct 22 until almost noon on Oct 24, the Moon in analytical Virgo offers to help ground our dreams. These are not just idle words, as a grand trine to Pluto and Jupiter the evening of the 22nd forms a seasoned construction crew for a solid foundation.
Tense aspects between Mars and Pluto on Oct 23 can activate our automatic defense buttons, so be aware and stay cool.
It's time to assess our needs and resources as the Sun enters Grand Inquisitor Scorpio from Oct 23 until Nov 22. This deep examination relates to all areas of our lives and their true functionality. Which systems and relationships are really working for us, and which ones need to make room for something better? Let go, and go for the upgrade!
Reaching for our visions feels possible on Oct 24 as the Sun trines teacher Chiron. Then the Moon shifts into diplomatic Libra at 11:50 a.m. until Oct 26 at 11:09 a.m. As we've noted over the past few months, the usual gentle Libran ride has taken on a bumpier erratic quality. So, on the 24th, challenges from unpredictable Uranus and confrontational Pluto can shake up relationships and bring repressed issues to the surface. In truth, they're actually healthier in the light than churning in the gut.
On the 25th, the Libran Moon regains her balance. Supported by the Nodes and Mars, and conjoined to Saturn, Lady Justice finds her voice and holds her rightful place.
"Please release me, can't you see
You'd be a fool to cling to me
To live a lie would bring us pain
So release me and let me love again"
-- Eddie Miller/Dub Williams/Robert Yount
The New Moon in Scorpio on Oct 26 asks what we're open to offer up that no longer supports our growth and evolution. We can't help but see that the old assumptions are crumbling and a new paradigm is about to unfold. The vehicle for a dimensional shift in consciousness is boarding, and we really don't want to be left behind. With Venus sparring with Mars, we may feel trepidation about facing those shadowy places and relinquishing even the painful familiar circumstances. However, our mere willingness to be shown a greater truth can result in major empowerment, as Pluto promises to oversee our transmutation.
Oct 28 starts out a bit befuddled with the Moon square foggy Neptune, so it may take longer to come back into your daytime body. By 10:46 a.m., Luna moves into spunky Sagittarius and the search for the next frontier is on. Around that time, Mercury in stubborn Scorpio squares Mars in prideful Leo, potentially turning debate into verbal attack. Just in time, benevolent Jupiter collaborates with mighty Pluto, charging the energy grid for productive change. Then, as if to ensure a running start, the Sun joins this galactic lead team to amplify the field for profound transformation.
The energies on Oct 29 give us time to absorb the deep changes of the last few days, and perhaps try on our new persona in an unusual costume for a celebratory pre-Halloween party.
From midday on Oct 30 through the month's end, the Moon in steadfast Capricorn softens with Neptune and Chiron, but could lose her footing as Uranus shouts "boo" in the afternoon. That night, Lunar contacts to Jupiter, then Pluto, go from easy listening to "easy rider", as old ghosts may appear to haunt us.
On Oct 31, Halloween, Venus squares Neptune, encouraging us to escape from the mundane. This is not a day to make serious financial or business decisions, but it is great for an excursion into make-believe! Enjoy the visit to your own Magic Kingdom!

October 2011 - Part I
"Two of us wearing raincoats
Standing solo
In the sun
You and me chasing paper
Getting nowhere
On our way back home
We're on our way home
We're on our way home
We're going home."
-- John Lennon/Paul McCartney
October debuts with four planets in Libra, speaking to us about harmony and balance in all the ways we relate. With Father Saturn in the mix, we continue to assess and exfoliate beliefs and behavioral patterns that restrict us. In contrast, we notice which interactions fulfill by the simple act of sharing, and encourage us to be more of our infinite selves.
The Moon in jovial Sagittarius on Oct 1 and 2 brings enthusiasm and an urge to venture out into new realms. Do bring a compass, though, as early on Oct 3 Mars squares Jupiter, pushing the edges of reasonable limits, followed by lunar challenges to Uranus and Pluto. By evening, however, the Moon and Jupiter work together to make good sense of it all.
When Lady Luna squares Mercury and later Saturn on Oct 4, our wisest course is one of planning and endurance to avoid tension.
The Moon in unconventional Aquarius from Oct 5 to the evening of Oct 7 opens us to unusual ways of viewing things. In addition, Mercury's interaction with the Nodes on the 5th yields a healthy combo of data and wisdom. Then on Oct 6, Sir Mercury grounds our thinking further as he joins Saturn. This duo works best for practical focus, without resorting to dampening spirits.
The aspects on Oct 7 and 8 are filled with a sense of gentle loving-kindness. How apt that Venus trines Neptune that evening, encouraging forgiveness of self and others right at the start of the Jewish Day of Atonement.
"Raven hair and ruby lips
Sparks fly from her finger tips
Echoed voices in the night
She's a restless spirit on an endless flight.
Woo, hoo, witchy woman
See how high she flies
Woo, hoo, witchy woman
She got the moon in her eyes."
-- Don Henley/Bernie Leadon
When magnetic Venus enters intense Scorpio from Oct 9 until Nov 2, her usual ladylike nature can turn from passion into possessiveness. Still, her determination to plumb the depths can also reveal powerful truths and feelings. Plus her trine to Chiron on the 9th suggests a healing shift.
Aspects from the Moon in Aries to Uranus and Pluto on Oct 10 can feel like an emotional roller coaster heading into the next day's Full Moon. Remember, it's just a ride.
With the Full Moon on Oct 11 in "I-Me-Mine" Aries, it's time to figure out who we are and what we want. Looking at the other side of this pendulum, the key to this issue lies in our interactions and building of appropriate relationships. Saturn's presence suggests the creation of alternative structures that allow for mutual independence and supportive partnership. The paradigm of either/or no longer works, as that fork in the road is long gone.
When Mercury harmonizes with etheric Neptune early on Oct 12, our words and thoughts can take on a gentle, poetic quality that brings peace. Some differences may arise briefly later when the Aries Moon opposes Mercury, but Luna's shift into earthy Taurus at 9:35 p.m. soothes the way.
Early on Oct 13, changes in our finances and partnerships can reveal helpful resources and supportive arrangements, as Venus confers with mighty Pluto. Then our winged messenger Mercury moves into incisive Scorpio until Nov 2, penetrating the depths. No stone is left unturned while we seek answers and resolution. As the Moon joins Jupiter, we may be pleased with what we learn. Then the Sun conjoins Saturn and we begin a new cycle of personal responsibility and refocused efforts with inspired ideas from Mercury trining Chiron.
Our desire nature can overwhelm our good sense on Oct 14 as Venus opposes Jupiter and over-indulgence sounds mighty tempting. Perhaps a child-sized hot fudge sundae...
Hopefully, you employed a modicum of self control yesterday, so that the effect of the Oct 15 lunar squares to Neptune and Chiron don't send you into La-la Land. With a bit of patience, the fog should clear by mid-afternoon.
Conversations get interesting and mysteries may be solved on Oct 16 when Mercury and Pluto put their heads together for real change. Then Venus conjuncts Poseidon, infusing spiritual subtexts into the possibilities that await us.
