"You say you want a revolution
Well, you know
We all want to change the world...
You tell me it's the institution,
Well, you know
You better free your mind instead."
-- John Lennon/Paul McCartney
Uranus's grand entrance into Aries and the shift of the Moon's nodal axis into Sagittarius/Gemini continue to rock our world with global events from earthquakes and flooding to rebellious uprisings. While the external circumstances are certainly disconcerting, the greater shift is the opportunity to experience our lives and our Selves from a more authentic paradigm connected to infinite source. For the only lasting change is that which emanates from our commitment to increasing individual wholeness and collaborative living.
The playful Moon in Leo meets up with Jupiter, Mercury, Saturn, and Venus on Mar 16 to enjoy each other's company and happily exchange ideas and emotions. Then on Mar 17, aspects to Neptune can entice us into the Lands of Make Believe, possibly magnified by excessive St Patrick's Day green beer.
The Moon in Virgo, from around 5 pm on Mar 17 until 4 pm on Mar 19 puts an end to all of the indecisive foggy nonsense and clarifies concrete terms and boundaries. In a similar practical vein Mercury opposes Saturn on Mar 18, slowing down processes to ensure that all bases are covered. Although the Sun in Pisces might want mellow time, his square to the Nodes indicates far too many ideas and data to be integrated with principles before opting out.
The Super Full Moon on Mar 19 generates stronger pulls on our tides, our earth, and our individual magnetic fields, so be sure to fasten your fourth dimensional seatbelts. The Sun in visionary Pisces and the Moon in analytical Virgo exemplify the tug between heart and head, and the need to integrate the higher dimensions as source for our step by step, grounded living. With Uranus close to its conjunction to the Sun on Mar 21, we're already hearing the call to join the shift, as there's really no turning back anyway. Sudden changes are becoming the norm, so, as they say "get over it and get on with it." We can also still feel the square of the Full Moon and Sun to the Nodes, aligning with the Galactic Center, the energy source in the center of our milky way Galaxy. Do you think we might be getting messages to conduct our lives and our world in a different way? We can consciously evolve or we can resist and go kicking and screaming (not a pretty picture.)
Later in the day, the moon moves into usually gentle Libra. However, opposing aspects to Uranus and Pluto may keep us rocking and rolling without the benefit of musical backup into the Equinox on Mar 20. The Sun in pioneering Aries until Apr 20 marks a time of equal light and dark, as well as the beginning of our Astrological New Year. Especially notable is the lustrous Sun's conjunction to radical Uranus in powerful 0 degrees Aries on Mar 21, promising more unpredictable change, as well as opportunity to release the past and begin anew. What and where are we willing to reinvent our lives?
The Moon in Scorpio mid-afternoon on Mar 21 until late afternoon on Mar 23 enables us to get to the bottom line regarding many of the recent upheavals, so that our responses may be well-considered.
When Venus harmonizes with the Nodes on Mar 24, resources and colleagues may appear that provide the missing pieces and encourage us to follow our greater truth. Lunar aspect late on Mar 25 may have us a little jumpy. Then lovely Venus dances with compassionate Neptune on Mar 26, releasing our softer, faith-filled side and adorning and easing this path to new beginnings.
In this sweeter vein, Venus moves into Pisces on Mar 27 until Apr 21, opening our hearts and reminding us of the importance of our spiritual values and their expression in the world.
Hopefully, we can hold on to some of that faith ministry when the Sun squares Pluto on Mar 28 and old power struggles can reappear. How will we respond? Will we tighten our grip or move into our true power that lies beyond the bureaucracy of control? Then Jupiter in Aries opposes Saturn in Libra and once again we're facing the conundrum of expanding and developing our personal expressions while holding an inclusive space. This is where we can recognize both our need for individual freedom and collaboration with kindred spirits for long-term mutual success.
Oh dear, so much information and so many choices, which way do I go? That's a likely mantra when Mars in Pisces squares the Nodes on Mar 29. Perceptions are further softened with the Moon joining in sensitive Pisces from the evening of Mar 30 through Mar 31. To add to the ethereal veils, sweet Venus joins with Chiron and anything from a Holy Grail quest to lofty martyrdom can seem appealing. Yet the real learning from this transit is the ability to separate illusion from guided vision, and grow from the realization.
Hmm, do we wonder why certain things seem to be slowing down lately? Could it be the lead up to Mercury Retrograde in Aries on Mar 30 until Apr 23? All those new directions will be up for review. So take the time to tie up those lingering loose ends and complete your research during this time. It will really pay off in late April and May when events accelerate even more.

March 2011 - Part I
"You who are on the road
Must have a code
That you can live by.
And so become yourself,
Because the past
Is just a good-bye."
-- Graham Nash
March opens with a Pisces processional leading us onto a beckoning open road unfolding before our eyes. Early on Mar 1, Venus, in the last degree of Capricorn, consorts with Uranus to help us pack up the old to make lots of room to house the new. Then the Moon in experimental Aquarius until mid-morning on Mar 3 deepens our desire for the unusual. This appetite for liberty continues to increase as Venus later joins the independent Aquarian movement until Mar 27, opening us to different experiences.
Mar 3 allows us to flex our transformational muscles when Mars sextiles Pluto, opening the channels to accommodate lots of creative change. How appropriate that this helpful energetic also accompanies the initial sign shift of the Nodes into Sagittarius/Gemini that remains until the end of August 2012. With the North Node in principled Sagittarius, our learning curve will be enhanced by a sense of adventure and our willingness to trust our intuitive GPS to guide us personally and globally. While questions of ethics and honor may arise, the solutions will manifest from more infinite dimensions, beyond the manipulation of outdated, corrupted data.
"How
did the rose
ever open its heart
and give to this world all of its beauty?
It felt the encouragement of light against its being.
Otherwise we all remain too
frightened."
-- Hafiz
This New Moon in Pisces on Mar 4 lifts us from the mind-set of helpless victimization to the etheric realms of all that could be possible. The gathering of Chiron, Mars, the Moon and Sun, Mercury, and Uranus, all in the visionary sphere of dreams-come-true, reminds us of the true source of our self-renewal. The myth of domination and survival of the fittest will soon be relegated to the land of needlepoint clichés. Spring cleaning has already begun. Over the past eight years, Uranus in Pisces has immersed us in a sea of spiritual opening, readying us for the new truths and realizations about to be revealed from this month onward.
Emotions can feel somewhat prickly when the Moon squares the Nodes and bumps into reactive Uranus late on Mar 5. Still, a break from tradition may relieve any pressure and reveal some new facets to old stories.
The Moon in fiery Aries from Mar 6 until midday on Mar 8 may lead us through some rocky road that's not all ice cream. In the wee hours of Mar 6, Uranus challenges the Nodes, admonishing us to avoid the pendulum of swinging extremes. Friendly aspects from the Moon to Venus may buy us enough time for an enjoyable brunch, but mid-afternoon Pluto resistance may surface. Happily, Jupiter intervenes by dinnertime and the weekend finishes with a smile. Monday morning can feel like a weekend warrior reality check as Saturn ensures sobriety and prioritizes productive work.
Valued principles, rumors, and personal sensitivity may feel at odds on Mar 8 when Mercury squares the Nodes, but grounded intuition and common sense will prevail as the Moon enters Taurus until Mar 11.
From Mar 9 through Mar 11, we can hear Richie Havens at Woodstock tapping his foot and singing:
"Freedom, freedom
Freedom, freedom
Freedom, freedom
Freedom, freedom"
On Mar 9, Mercury conjuncts Uranus and racing minds can lead to innovative solutions and unexpected insights that can result in whole new technologies as we go forward. At the same time, remember that speeding intellect can run on too much adrenaline, missing the fine points and the value of patience and human interaction. Next, Mercury moves into Aries until May 15, amping up the rpm's and independent thinking even more. According to Mayan prophesy, from Mar 9 until Oct 28, 2011, there is an energetic breakthrough that can accelerate the evolution of our consciousness twentyfold! Hopefully, we've all been engaged in enough of our personal inner work to receive and utilize the perspectives available to us to impact our larger world culture.
As our minds expand, so do our opportunities, especially on Mar 10 and the days surrounding it. Early in the day, magnetic Venus harmonizes with beneficent Jupiter to draw love, affection, resources, and plain old good fortune to us. So, reach out and touch someone, dare to initiate, and buy those lottery tickets. Adding to the auspicious nature of this time, Neptune aligns with the Nodes, implying that a more universal source is at work here lining up a greater good.
On Mar 11, it's time to wake up and smell the coffee as Uranus, the eccentric rule-breaker, moves into Aries until May 2019. The time has expired for procrastination, rationalization, living in the past, and imagining the future. It's a global and personal makeover, so light the fuse and come on out. The keyword is action. There's no more putting up with oppression, repression, or garbage. The need for validation and change insists on freedom and personal expression. Warranted or not, everyone may want to run the show. Rebellion and reactions to it may not always be so evolutionary. We've been referring to personal responsibility for a while. This is when the pedal meets the metal. Peace and quiet may be mainly an inside job, yet the solidarity of collaboration, compassion, and shared efforts for common goals can work wonders.
On Mar 13, as Mercury challenges Pluto, we face that repeated quandary "Do you need to be right or do you want to be happy?" By staying open to more facets and the truths in our differences, a surprisingly inclusive view can emerge for constructive change.
Keeping the faith, tolerance and perseverance yield solid results on Mar 14 as Venus and Saturn join forces for wise business decisions and mutually beneficial relationships. Then the Moon in enthusiastic Leo from the afternoon of Mar 15 to 17 lifts our spirits and brightens our outlook. This buoyant attitude is heightened as Mercury conjoins Jupiter, bringing good news and expanded possibilities. While overconfidence may blur some of the details, the optimism it confers should enable great foresight and successful accomplishment.

February 2011 - Part II
"Oh, and there we were all in one place
A generation lost in space..."
-- Don McLean
Mid-month initially energizes us with the Moon in playful Leo romping with confident Jupiter on Feb 16. However, the fog rolls in on Feb 17 as the Aquarian Sun merges with imaginative Neptune and the edges between vision and illusion are blurred, reminiscent of our sixties replay. While our sensitivity may be enhanced, our interpretations need time to refine. Still, the music of the spheres can draw us into healing meditations or mystical pursuits that provide a more spiritual base to fuel us.
The usual drama of the Full Moon in Leo opposite the Sun in Aquarius on Feb 18 may jar some but is also softened by the continued tranquilizing influence of Neptune and Chiron. While Mercury and Mars may insist on their fair say, this ongoing sense of conscious sedation soothes egoistic reactions and allows for imaginative thinking. Within a few hours, the Moon moves into data-driven Virgo, and Venus squares Saturn, raising pragmatic questions and a few self-esteem issues. Yet, our willingness to look at our true values and what they are worth to us can keep us on the right track. That evening, safely anchored by the Virgo Moon, the Sun flows into gentle Pisces until Mar 20, setting us afloat in a sea of sensitivity and limitless faith.
With the Sun conjunct Chiron in Pisces on Feb 19 and positive aspects to the Nodes, we're inspired to trust our gifts and take steps to express them concretely in the world. We can see the old emotional wounds that have held us back and are urged to go beyond their limitations.
What an unusual mix of humanitarian ideals and creative innovation that infuses us on Feb 20 when Mercury, Mars, and Neptune conjoin in their own mental waterspout. Enjoy the stimulating whirlwind.
Feelings are more easily expressed through music, art, movement, poetry, or chanting than by dry, didactic words when Mercury slips into nebulous Pisces from Feb 21 until Mar 9. Plus, aspects from this winged messenger to the Nodes ensure that we attract those who can appreciate our unique articulations.
"Heavenly shades of night are falling, it's twilight time
Out of the mist your voice is calling, 'tis twilight time."
-- Buck Ram/Morty Nevins/Al Nevins/Artie Dunn
On Feb 22, assertive Mars relinquishes his sword for a gentler path as he joins the compassionate Pisces contingency until Apr 02. With four planets in the healing waters of Piscean forgiveness, the serenity of true twilight time provides some respite from our cares. Then on Feb 23 and 24, this peaceful warrior shares his journey with the Nodes and then Chiron, sowing the seeds of peace on earth.
The energy of Feb 25 can be likened to a 24-hour performance of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. From early morning to noon, aspects of Mercury to the Sun and Pluto deepen our perception and our ability to convincingly convey ideas and beliefs to promote real change. Then in mid-afternoon, Jupiter challenges Pluto in the third square aspect that began last summer. Do we succumb to worn out dogma, however well-meaning, or are we ready to break from the pattern and trust a new way? Helpfully, that evening as the Sun sextiles Pluto, perspectives shift and transformational breakthroughs affirm a road less traveled to success.
From the afternoon of Feb 26 to the end of the month, the Moon in stalwart Capricorn raises our productivity, even as we navigate around a few emotional landmines on the 27th. By Feb 28, our efforts are rewarded as the Moon aligns with Venus and Uranus for emotional fulfillment and unexpected opportunity. So keep your arms and your heart open to receive.

February 2011 - Part I
"Obladi oblada life goes on bra
Lala how the life goes on
Obladi oblada life goes on bra
Lala how the life goes on"
-- John Lennon/Paul McCartney
As the last two years have shown, we may cheer from the sidelines, push against the tide, or hide under the bed, and the natural cycle of worldly events will keep on surprising, challenging, and even saluting us. How we participate and respond to these outer stimuli is up to us. We can quietly retreat into the closet, as if our karma can't find us there. Or we can slick back our hair, start working out, work inwardly, and brave on to be more of who we are. With Saturn retrograde and Jupiter in Aries, our willingness to venture forth, tempered with patience and self awareness, can build us a mighty fine vehicle for this journey.
The Moon in Capricorn on Feb 1 makes favorable aspects to Mercury and Uranus, promoting ideas for organization without the drag of boredom. That evening, Luna shifts into electric Aquarius, keeping us further stimulated until 5:24am on Feb 4.
"We're not gonna take it
Never did and never will
We're not gonna take it
Gonna break it, gonna shake it,
Let's forget it better still"
-- Pete Townshend
There's intensity to this New Moon in freedom-loving Aquarius on Feb 2 and the following days that can manifest in social unrest or personal revolution. With Mars and Ceres on either side of the Sun/Moon, we're encouraged to stand up for fairness and the end of inequity. While Venus sextile Neptune may soften our approach, Aquarian detachment may argue the ends justifying the means. Either way, with Venus square Uranus, unexpected financial and romantic turns may challenge our values. Just watch that Jupitarian bravado squaring the Nodes doesn't tempt us to take on too much too soon. It's time to do things differently. Both our individuality and the oneness of our global humanity are seeking integration in a new world paradigm. Luckily, our mental faculties are wide open and inventive as Mercury brainstorms with Uranus to spark unusual resolutions.
Keen Mercury eagerly shifts into clever Aquarius for a scintillating collaboration of MENSA intellect and intuition from Feb 3 to Feb 21. Take advantage of this unique perception for enhanced communications and intellectual creativity. Also on Feb 3, Venus in the last degree of Sagittarius teams up with Chiron to draw in synchronous connections.
Sweet Venus changes costume on Feb 4 to reflect a more respectable Capricorn demeanor until Mar 1. Practicality, ambition, and organizational acumen win the respect of this damsel. Lunar aspects on the 4th flow with ease; yet the Sun conjunct Mars can be provocative and rattle some cages. Still, supportive aspects from the Moon to Pluto should enable us to roll with the punches and emerge wiser.
Planning for the bigger picture goes well on Feb 5. Mercury sextile Jupiter expands our vision without distorting it, and negotiations and contracts could be quite favorable. In addition, Venus joins with the North Node to concretize our sense of personal empowerment and the ability to successfully direct our own course. Venus's proximity to the Node and Pluto during the whole first half of February can also amplify the long-term results of our efforts.
The morning hours of Feb 6 can be very productive, as the Sun and Mars trine constructive Saturn for grounded efficiency. However, from 2:40 pm on, we can hear Sheryl Crow in the background beckoning with "All I wanna do is have some fun..." and indulgence may take over. So take advantage of the early conscientiousness and plan accordingly.
The Moon in Aries from the evening of Feb 6 until 6:23 am on Feb 9 gives a fiery kick-start to the week. Lunar aspects to Pluto and Saturn early morning on Feb 7 and 8 moderate our impulsiveness to a more functional mode as we continue to make headway.
"We were born before the wind
Also younger than the Sun
Ere the bonnie boat was won
As we sailed into the mystic"
-- Van Morrison
The entrance of Chiron into Pisces on Feb 8 marks a gradual immersion into healing waters for all humanity until 2019. Many forms may dissolve to allow for deeper sensitivity and compassion to create a more appropriate container for our spiritual expression on Earth. The last time Chiron resided in Pisces was March 1960 through January 1969! For those old enough to remember (60's innuendos aside) and those born during that time, this transit should bring incredible opportunities to enhance our spiritual maturity and express it in fulfilling, worldly ways.
From Wednesday evening, Feb 9, to Friday evening, Feb 11, the Moon in steadfast Taurus tempers our movements with considerations of practicality and comfort. Venus conjunct Pluto on the 9th can amplify relationship and economic situations for better or worse. Be wary about increasing debt or acting from fear of inadequate money, love, or self-esteem during these days. Yet for some, much needed financial or emotional resources may emerge and new life can transform wavering circumstances. On the 11th, the Moon squaring Neptune and Chiron may blur the lines between dream and current reality. Fortunately, if we get too near the edge, helpful Uranus aspects will flash a signal to alert us.
The Moon in social, communicative Gemini from the evening of Feb 11 to early on Feb 14 will keep us entertained and talking and talking and talking. Jovial aspects to Jupiter and Mercury on the 12th should enable us to express our feelings and ideas with ease. If we missed any points on that day, favorable aspects to Saturn in the wee hours of the 13th should neatly tie up verbal loose ends. That should leave us free to move about for the rest of the day, running lots of errands and networking with interesting folks. That evening, with the Moon square erratic Uranus, watch for unusual circumstances that can be jarring or liberating.
Sensitivity and sentimentality are the themes for the Moon in home-loving Cancer on Feb 14 to early morning on Feb 16. How apropos -- giving paper-doily-decorated Valentines, heart-shaped candy boxes, and other tokens of affection. Oh, the days in grammar school, exchanging little secret Valentine cards and eating those message-imprinted candies that tasted like violets. With the Moon conjunct the South Node and emotions magnified by Jupiter, Pluto, and Venus, insecurities can surface and dramatize our sense of lack. Fortunately, the Mercury Saturn trine can help clear our fuzzy logic and provide a reliable means to structure plans for solid, rewarding living.

January 2011 - Part II
"Yes I've gotta have faith....
Mmm, I gotta have faith
'Cause I gotta have faith, faith, faith,
I gotta have faith-a-faith-a-faith."
-- George Michael
With all the detours and slowdowns we've been subject to this past year, there may have been moments when our faith seemed to be worn thin. Happily, there should be some breaks in the clouds from Jan 14 - 22 that reward our fortitude and offer a chance for something new. So be open to different pathways and unexpected opportunities. Aspects to the Moon may start out a bit uneven on Jan 17, but the Sun/Uranus sextile can present stimulating experiences for days that make life a lot more interesting. The more we're willing to be ourselves, the greater our prospects.
Early on Jan 18, with the Moon in opposition to the Mercury/Pluto conjunction, we'll be digging deep to discover the bottom line, whether informational or emotional. Armed with awareness and conviction, we'll be ready to make our point and be heard, as long as we avoid that opinionated tone.
"Homeward bound
I wish I was
Homeward bound
Home, where my thought's escaping
Home, where my music's playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me"
-- Paul Simon/Art Garfunkel
This Cancer Full Moon opposing the Capricorn Sun in the last degree of their signs on Jan 19 reminds us of where we've been and encourages us to go even further. It's time to redefine our concepts of safety and home. Rather than vulnerability, our emotions can serve as guideposts for our journey, marking territories where we are mindlessly defended and where we are real. As such, the security of "home" can come from our connection within and the power of our conscious choices. We can continue to identify with our boring roles as martyr or oppressor, or we can write a new life script eliminating both of those characters. Our personal and business relationships are also up for evaluation as balance, equality, and mutual benefit define the new social order.
Supportive aspects from the Full Moon to progressive Uranus and expansive Jupiter reassure us that the best way out of the past is literally forward into the future. At this point, attempts to backtrack into old behaviors would just ensnare us in the quicksand, while the lure of the plentiful road ahead is too tantalizing to ignore. Besides, with the Sun sextile Jupiter and the Moon in jovial Leo from the evening of Jan 19 to the evening of Jan 21, even the oddsmakers are predicting success.
When trends are being set, you can be sure that somewhere nearby Aquarian influences are on the scene. From Jan 20 until Feb 18 the Sun in inventive Aquarius shines its creative, eccentric light on us all. Never boring, this independent yet humanitarian spirit will help to stimulate the progressive ideas and innovative change we're seeking.
Ready...set...go! When expansive Jupiter moves into pioneering Aries on Jan 22, make sure you have your running shoes on. Since beneficent Jupiter speeds through this fiery ram sign at a record-setting pace until Jun 12, we won't want to waste a second of this prime initiating time. So gather your notes and blueprints, connect with your contacts, and launch those dream projects during this fertile period.
Business matters, negotiations, and contracts can be especially fortuitous from Jan 20 - 26 as magnetic Venus collaborates with practical Saturn exactly on Jan 23. This combination of charisma and structure should bode very well, as long as we monitor the void-of-course times* for document signing.
On Jan 24 the Moon in Libra, seeking harmony, navigates through encounters with demanding Pluto, active Mars, a cautious Mercury, and finally serious Saturn to balance the books.
As a perfect counterbalance to the rapid momentum of Jupiter, stalwart Saturn moves retrograde from Jan 25 until Jun 12. Long-term progress can be ensured during this consolidation span, an ideal time to improve our processes and firm up our foundations. Remember, Saturn, quite comfortable and efficient in his Libran sojourn, is happy to help us craft a balanced and fulfilling life.
The Moon in mysterious Scorpio from Jan 25 at 9:16 pm to the wee hours of Jan 28 will have us probing deeply into hidden worldly issues and our own personal introspection. When Mercury squares Saturn on Jan 26, watch that mental focus doesn't spiral into dark tunnel vision.
From Jan 28 until the morning of Jan 30, our sights are lifted as the Moon moves through philosophical Sagittarius and the brighter side of living shines through.
Duties and responsibilities may take precedence from the morning of Jan 30 through the 31st with the Moon in pragmatic Capricorn spouting slogans about order and commitment. While all this "seriousity" may be a bit much, this prodding may just motivate us to clear up long-standing loose ends and pave the way for our Jupitarian debut.

January 2011 - Part I
"You may be right
I may be crazy
But it just might be a lunatic you're looking for
Turn out the light
Don't try to save me
You may be wrong for all I know
But you may be right."
-- Billy Joel
If ever there were a time to give substance to the brilliant lunatic within us, this January marks that starting point. Over the past two years, many have been rudely awakened to the true identity of insanity on our planet economically, politically, and ecologically. Our Mother Earth has issued a Request for Proposals to those who see another way and are willing to share their perspectives and gifts with a world in need. Supported by a number of planets in Capricorn, thoughtful planning and setting up goals for even the edgiest innovations will likely lead to rewards.
The year begins with the Moon in optimistic Sagittarius from Jan 1 to Jan 3. The lack of aspects on the 1st keeps things mellow and allows time to ease our way into this new territory and to compile a list of resolutions that inspire rather than judge us. The energies on Jan 2 are more stimulating, so get up and start thinking about what you wish to initiate after the New Moon Eclipse Jan 4.
On Jan 3, the Capricorn Moon conjuncts the North Node, Pluto, and Pallas, turning our attention to the deeper meaning behind it all. For yours truly, this also marks my birthday -- like Jack Benny -- 39 forever.
"We may never pass this way again
We may never pass this way again
We may never pass this way again
We may never pass this way again."
--James Seals/Dash Crofts
As we enter the New Moon Solar Eclipse on Jan 4, in the infancy of 2011, a whole new way of living may be revealed. The day starts with a romantic Venus Neptune square -- lovely, but better for our dreams than our actions. By early morning, as the Sun and Moon conjoin in ambitious Capricorn, our sense of auspicious timing is heightened and the portico to practical planning beckons to us. Yet, on the way to the drafting table, our attention may be diverted by the flashing lights of Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Pisces squaring the Galactic Center. Once again we are awakened to options for inventive change and the milestone of a transforming paradigm. With magnetic Venus encouraging this superhero duo, unexpected opportunity is on the horizon. Still, Saturn squaring the Moon combined with all the cantankerous Capricorn reins us in enough to tend to our chores and build our bridges diligently.
From 11:08 am on Jan 5 until 9:57 pm on Jan7, the Moon in Aquarius sheds its luminescent light on our earth and our minds, expanding our perspectives and revealing new methodologies.
"Don't sit around and wonder when to
Now is the time for all good men to
You know the way to start today
To TCB - do it now."
-- William Angelos/Alan Kohan for The Supremes
When the Sun squares Saturn on Jan 7, we may feel internal and external pressure to decide what our real commitments are and how we choose to proceed with our personal responsibility and autonomy. Biting the bullet may feel challenging, yet organizing and taking charge can lead to a deep sense of empowerment and success. Helpfully, the lunar aspects are pleasant, and Venus jumps into Sagittarius clapping her hands and calling for a more playful attitude until Feb 4.
The Moon in sensitive Pisces from the evening of Jan 7 until 10:24 am on Jan 10, sets us up for a relaxing weekend, especially suited to music, film, and spiritual pursuits. In the wee hours of Jan 10, the Moon conjoins Jupiter and Uranus, enriching our musings and possibly taking us on distant journeys of astral travel and lucid dreaming. Then Lady Luna leaps into daring Aries, wanting to pick up the pace. At the same time, Mercury sextiles Neptune, activating our intuitive senses and our more compassionate nature. Within a few hours, though, winged Mercury runs into a square with Uranus, stimulating our brilliance, but not so much our common sense or diplomacy. So it may be wise to record and edit those insights before announcing them to the world. With the Moon square Pluto that evening, you might want to avoid the discomfort of dislodging your foot from your mouth.
The trend of overshooting the verbal mark may continue into Jan11 when Mercury squares Jupiter and ideas that seem bigger than life may just be that. That evening when Mercury harmonizes with Chiron and later the Moon opposes Saturn, we'll see a different picture and be able to focus on the pragmatics.
Insights into new directions and opportunities will energize our thoughts and our actions when Mars Sextiles Uranus on Jan 12 and the surrounding days. Although the Moon squares the Sun and later Mars, this emotional wavering can enable us to find that elusive balance point between responsibility to self and others. Then the Moon in earthy Taurus from the night of Jan 12 until the morning of Jan15 helps us to stabilize for greater comfort and security.
Continuing in a more practical vein, on Jan 13 Mercury dons the Capricorn conservative robe until Feb 3, calculating the strategic pros and cons of our next steps. Even with this grounded approach, much progress can be made with Mars in Capricorn sextile Jupiter in Pisces, also on Jan 13, turning dreams into substance with visionary flair.
On Jan 15, Mercury conjuncts the North Node in Capricorn, supporting us in our worldly enterprises as we venture further and further beyond our childish insecurities onto our authentic paths.
Then at 8:23 am on the 15th, the Moon moves into sociable Gemini where interesting conversations pique her curiosity until the afternoon of Jan 17. Also on Jan 15, adventurous Mars shifts from cautious Capricorn to eclectic Aquarius until Feb 22. Although naturally independent, this humanitarian sign also believes in the greater good of all and so raises our sights for win/win outcomes all around. It's quite a jump-start to a truly New Year!

December 2010 - Part II
"Just what makes that little old ant
Think he'll move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant can't
Move a rubber tree plant
But he's got high hopes, he's got high hopes
He's got high apple pie, in the sky hopes
So any time you're gettin' low
'stead of lettin' go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant"
-- Sammy Cahn/Jimmy Van Heusen
When the Sun squares Jupiter on Dec 16, our hopes are high and we're anxious to go for it all. While the environment is quite expansive and energizing, a little discipline will go a long way to make optimum use of our long-range aspirations. With the Moon in steadfast Taurus through Dec 18, our tactile, yet sensible, nature will add security and comfort to the desired attributes. In addition, Mercury conjuncts the North Node, coaching us to forego an excess of immediate gratification for attainment of the greater goals we seek.
Dec 18 takes us on a journey into uncharted territory that begins with a gentle "once upon a time," reminiscent of our sweet spiritual nature as the Sun sextiles Neptune and Chiron. Then Mercury retrogrades from cautious Capricorn back into enthusiastic and sometimes opinionated Sagittarius to liven things up. Moving backwards can generally affect the mental equilibrium of our winged messenger, and the Sagittarian arrows of advice could inadvertently topple the balance from now into January 2011. There is such a thing as too much truth. By mid-afternoon expect the unexpected, as the Sun squares Uranus and freedom may be interpreted as erratic and anarchistic. I'd like to think that this can lead to helpful breakthroughs . . . in any event, the status quo will likely shift.
There can be lots of discussion when the Sun conjuncts Mercury on Dec 19 and a rapid exchange of ideas keep the intellect stimulated. Just take time to listen in between punctuation marks.
Right on trend, Mercury backs into a square with Uranus on Dec 20, and rebellious ideas interrupt communications and challenge authority, foreshadowing the upcoming Lunar Eclipse.
It's something unpredictable
But in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life."
-- Michael Pritchard/Frank E. Wright, III/Billie Joe Armstrong
This month, Dec 21 brings us a Total Lunar Eclipse followed by the grand entrance of the Sun into Capricorn until Jan 20, 2011. We may not know exactly what is coming, but it's certain that something new and different is about to appear. With Mercury sextile Neptune, we can sense the subtle, etheric movement of consciousness. For the third Full Moon in a row, the Sun and Moon oppose in the last degree of their signs (Sun in Sagittarius and Moon in Gemini) to confirm that the old ways of thinking and doing have met their Waterloo. There may be some drama as the resistant ones bemoan the forward movement, yet radical change is desirable and inevitable.
With Juno opposing Jupiter and Uranus, while squaring the Sun, Moon, and Hades, our perceptions regarding one another and all relationship interactions are about to leap into a new dimension. So fasten your parachutes and leave your repetitious ingrained patterns in the Salvation Army kettle for recycling. The Sun in pragmatic Capricorn and Mercury square Jupiter give us both the tools and the positive attitude to guide us through this crossroad with skill and grace, as long as we maintain grounded perspective.
The Moon in Cancer immediately following the Eclipse until the morning of Dec 23 keeps the sensitivity meter in high gear. Events may feel overly personal, so step back to keep the larger picture in perspective. If things escalate, bake something warm and nurturing and share it with your loved ones.
On Dec 24, the Sun conjuncts the North Node, reinforcing our commitment to choose and act consciously in ways that reflect our true path. Then, from the morning of Dec 23 until Christmas morning, Dec 25, the Moon in Leo motivates us to source from our deepest heart's desires to interact lovingly with those around us.
The Moon's stay in Virgo from early Dec 25 until 12:39pm on Dec 27 will have folks cleaning up those holiday wrappings and deconstructing unnecessary boxes before the batteries are installed in their compartments. When the Sun joins Pluto on Dec 26, there's an intensity that can challenge existing structures and ultimately lead to fundamental realizations and transformation.
The Moon in Libra from Dec 27 until late afternoon on Dec 29 usually signals harmony. However, harsh aspects to Pluto, Mars, and Saturn can provoke power struggles unless we redirect the energy into productive projects. Then, when Mars squares Saturn on Dec 29, rather than pushing against the frustrating tide, we'd best take the time to focus, plan, and strategize for success.
Early on Dec 30 at least some prayers are answered as Mercury begins his movement direct in the heavens and our lives. On the evening of Dec 31, the Moon shifts from serious Scorpio into adventurous Sagittarius, setting the stage for optimistic celebration to pop the cork of a brighter New Year.
So, once again we're reminded:
It's something unpredictable
But in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life."

December 2010 - Part I
"There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
...there's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong...
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look what's going down."
-- Stephen Stills
Whenever we find a number of planets connecting with asteroids and transneptunian points, we can be pretty sure that we're heading into precedent setting times. And, looking at the partisan foolishness of much of our world, it's about time someone or something stepped in. I'd like to say it's all a smooth course, but there seems to be a bit of turbulence in the atmosphere ahead. And we all have options as to how we move through it.
"Got to pay your dues if you wanna sing the blues,
And you know it don't come easy.
You don't have to shout or leap about,
You can even play them easy...
Open up your heart, let's come together,
Use a little love
And we will make it work out better."
-- Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr)
Although Dec 1 may start out on a serious Moon/Saturn note, Mercury sextile Venus soon releases any wrinkles in our communications or our worried foreheads. With this combo, points can be made clearly without ruffling defensive feathers.
The gentle approach continues on Dec 2, even with the Moon in weighty Scorpio, as Mars and Neptune align to persuade without pressure.
While Mars sextiles Chiron very early on Dec 3 to monitor right use of assertive energy, all's not so quiet on the Western front as the morning progresses. In fact, all hell could break loose if impatience triggers the angry, rebellious behavior of Mars square Uranus. So practice yoga breaths, create pattern interruptions, and sing during traffic jams to release tension for a few days.
On Dec 4, the Moon in Sagittarius and supportive aspects to Jupiter and Uranus emit uplifting rays of optimism. Then on Dec 5, the New Moon in Sagittarius sparks even greater enthusiasm and hope for our future personally and globally. Venus sextiles the North Node and trines the South Node, forecasting the rewards of good karma and a healthy return on efforts invested. When Uranus moves direct hours later, after five months retrograde, it really feels like things are popping. Restrictions are lifted and stifling circumstances are up for revision as we move into action. From today to Dec 10, when Mercury goes retrograde, major progress and leaps in consciousness are possible to set the groundwork for the 2011 turning points.
Also on Dec 5, Mercury conjoins Pluto in Capricorn and our desire to go deeper can turn up profound insights. No wishy-washy deflections are allowed here - just bottom line discernment and practical resolution.
The Moon in Sagittarius until the evening of Dec 6 continues the invigorating momentum of expansion and change. Then the Moon in Capricorn from 6:17 pm until the wee hours of Dec 9 slows the process to transmute revelations into productive plans.
A sense of order and self-discipline enable concrete progress on Dec 7 when the Sun sextiles Saturn. Whether you are the authority or you seek advice, wisdom and experience are available and appreciated. That evening, Mars shifts from adventurous leisure suit Sagittarius to sophisticated black tie Capricorn until Jan 15, 2011. Here Mars asserts his maturity to guide us into purposeful action for long-term success.
Good fortune shines upon us on Dec 8 when Venus sextiles Pluto. This resourceful combination can enhance relationships and even unearth hidden financial assets to our delight.
The first half of December is especially festive for me, as I get to progressively celebrate the birthdays of my Sagittarian niece Traci, then my sister Mimi, and my daughter Mindy. With my Moon and Mars also in the archer sign, it's not surprising that I'm surrounded by fiery family members.
The Moon in innovative Aquarius from 2:32 am on Dec 9 until midday on Dec 11 clears the air and helps us maintain an objective perspective. As Mercury goes retrograde from 6:56 am on Dec 10 until Dec 30, we'll appreciate this clarity to complete last minute computer backups, vehicle and electronic tune-ups, and document signings before the winged messenger shifts into reverse and gunks up our communication airways. Fortunately, just as he starts his rollback, he sextiles Venus to soften the impact and lighten our interactions.
The lunar aspects to Neptune and Chiron early on Dec 11 can carry us into the morning on wings of idealism and altruistic motives. Then Mars conjuncts the North Node and motivates us to dig in and map out what needs to be done, whether for holiday shopping, year-end tax preparation, or upcoming baby birth (Yay Melissa!).
The Moon in Pisces from 1:41 pm on Dec 11 to 2 am on Dec 14 infuses the days with romantic notions and spiritual healing. Late on Dec 13 Mercury, Mars, and Pluto conjoin in an unusual intense meeting that can be excellent for problem solving, as long as egos are left on the far side of the metal detectors. Just remember to channel the desire to manipulate into the purging of old files, outdated records, and lingering resentments.
Aspects to the Moon in independent Aries from early Dec 14 into Dec 16 can bring up deep feelings and the desire to express what's never been said. As long as our words are chosen with sensitivity to those around us, this expression can powerfully clear the clutter of the past and open the portal to a renewed future.

That the word is just the way,
It's the word I'm thinking of,
And the only word is love."

November 2010 - Part II
"I'm gonna be a wheel someday
I'm gonna be somebody
I'm gonna be a real gone cat
Then I won't want you"
-- Roy Hayes/ Antonio (Fats) Domino/Dave Bartholomew
We've all experienced circumstances and relationships that seem to break our hearts. Yet these same disappointments can motivate us to push past the letdown into even greater expressions of ourselves. While the current Retrograde Venus may have shown us where not to look for solace, it's clearing the way for bigger and better things soon to come. On Nov 16, the Moon favors Jupiter, the Sun, and then Uranus, previewing the bounty available as we break from the boring past, using shattered illusions as rich compost.
The Moon in adventurous Aries from the evening of Nov 16 until early morning on Nov 19 has us testing limits and seeking wider boundaries. Her run-in with Pluto and later Saturn on Nov 17 can push the "cranky" button, but it may not be worth taking a stand. Besides, Mercury sextiles Saturn and practical communications can bypass personal agendas.
Hazy clouds may diffuse our vision early on Nov 18, when the Sun squares Neptune and Chiron, and initial communications can be misleading. As Neptune tends to operate on more nebulous planes of existence, we'd best follow the flow with creative and spiritual pursuits for now. Fortunately, actually very fortunately, as the day progresses, benefics Jupiter and Venus resume their forward motion in a rare same-day occurrence that amplifies new relationships and future possibilities. Over the next few weeks comes the true preparation for personal reinvention to debut in late January 2011 when Jupiter enters Aries again.
If you've been yearning for something really different, the Sun trine Uranus on Nov 19 may be the spark you've been seeking. So, stay on the lookout for unexpected turns and innovative connections.
The conjunction of Mercury and Mars in Sagittarius on Nov 20 can stimulate philosophical discussions and even heat up some dogmatic debates. Speaking one's mind is healthy, as long as the judge-o-meter stays out of the red zone.
On Nov 21, the Full Moon in steadfast Taurus once again lights up the sky in the last degree of a sign, this time opposing the Sun in penetrating Scorpio. What is worth holding on to and what needs to go? The concept of stability takes on a new meaning that incorporates openness to change and transformation as part of the foundation. It is time to acknowledge and redirect those fear-based habits that have bullied us for too long and transmute them into authentic, creative life force. With Pluto and the North Node conjunct all month in Capricorn, concrete resources are available to all who are willing to take the alchemical leap.
Within hours of the Full Moon, the Sun ventures into daring Sagittarius from Nov 22 until Dec 21, magnifying our thirst for new horizons and expansion into unexplored territories. Just be sure to leave markings on the trail in case we lose track of our detours.
From the evening of Nov23 to the wee hours of Nov 26, the Moon in Cancer alerts our protective and nurturing instincts leading up to the traditional family gathering on the U.S. Thanksgiving Day. Challenging lunar aspects to Pluto and Saturn on Nov 24 may seem like we're heading for a replay of "Home for the Holidays," as repressed issues can rear up without warning. But by Nov 25, Mercury squares Jupiter and lunar aspects are enjoyable and enticing us to indulge in lots of conversation and extra helpings of all things mashed, stuffed, and baked.
The Moon in playful Leo from Friday, Nov 26 to early morning on Nov 28 extends the celebratory spirit into the weekend. On Saturday, Nov 27, aspects to Mercury may take us from morning Neptunian sublime to evening Uranus ridiculous. So stay flexible and be on the lookout for any sudden impulse to blurt out a truth better left unsaid.
Any leftover holiday food, laundry, chores, and communications should be neatly disposed of with the Moon in tidy Virgo on Nov 28 through early morning on the 30th. On the 29th, Venus shifts from gentle Libra into intense Scorpio until Jan 7, 2011, deepening our awareness of what we really want. Do watch the tendency to overdo or expect too much too fast with Mars square Jupiter, also on Nov 29. Similar aspects from the Moon to this square can heighten impatience or irritability. Just redirect the energy to the task at hand and all should be spic and span without any unnecessary casualties.
The Moon moves into usually diplomatic Libra on Nov 30, and her challenging aspects to Uranus, Mercury, and Pluto may send us back to charm school for a refresher course in effective communications skills. To top off the month, Mercury enters mentally cautious Capricorn to help us organize our thoughts and practical considerations, preparing us for his retrograde jaunt on Dec 10, just in time for the next Holiday extravaganza.

November 2010 - Part I
"I'm looking through you, where did you go?
I thought I knew you, what did I know?
You don't look different, but you have changed,
I'm looking through you, you're not the same."
-- Paul McCartney
Are long-standing relationships and circumstances changing, or are we just seeing with greater clarity? The combination of Venus Retrograde and then four planets turning direct can open our eyes to the reality behind the illusion this November. And that vision can apply to others, our political charades, and most importantly, our own self-criticism, avoidance, and mental demons. As we head through the last quarter of 2010, it's time to unload the junk we don't want to drag along into 2011.
Nov 1 presents opportunity to set things right financially and interpersonally as Venus sextiles Pluto, and deep feelings can enhance outcomes.
On U.S. Election day, Nov 2, promises and expectations can go over-board, and upsets are likely as the Moon opposes Jupiter and trickster Uranus. Then, on Nov 3, we're summoned to deal with the events of the day like mature adults (whatever that is) as the Moon in conciliatory Libra squares Pluto and the Nodes. Fortunately, Luna gets a lift from Mars in the morning, keeping us on top of things. When she runs into Saturn that evening, watch out for the "glass half-empty" syndrome and divert the doldrums into focus.
Productivity and a more positive attitude prevail on Nov 4, when Mercury trines Jupiter, and the Moon in Libra consorts with Neptune and Chiron. Communications are likely to be open and friendly as our subtle, intuitive knowing takes the helm.
On Nov 5 Chiron begins his final forward movement in Aquarius, gathering skills in detachment and impersonal perspective until his immersion in sensitive Pisces from Feb 2011 until 2018.
"Electrical banana
Is gonna be a sudden craze.
Electrical banana
Is bound to be the very next phase.
They call it Mellow Yellow,
Quite rightly.
They call me Mellow Yellow,
Quite rightly."
-- Donovan Leitch
With the New Moon in Scorpio ushered in by Mercury squaring Neptune and Chiron on Nov 6, it may be hard to discern inspired genius from slick rhetoric. Add to that six planets and the South Node in water signs, and subjectivity may distort our intuitive translations. So slow down and watch what you inhale until the smoke clears. Later, Mercury trines Uranus and flashes of brilliance vet the true savants and light a different way. Although the Moon in Scorpio wants control, her square to Neptune and Chiron confirms that fear and separation are unacceptable delusions, as a greater force is in charge. Then, Neptune goes direct, carrying us even further onto our spiritual destiny path.
On Nov 7,with the advent of U.S. Standard time, the Moon in impulsive Sagittarius conjuncts Mars and signals a search for adventure with perhaps a touch of irritability if our way is blocked. Then Venus retrogrades into diplomatic Libra that evening and any ruffled feathers will be pacified and smoothed. Although still moving over old territory, Lady Venus is delighted to revisit her lovely Libran home until late November, seeking balance and harmony in all she encounters.
Straight talk rules the airways as Mercury enters Sagittarius, from Nov 8 through Nov 30. With the Moon also in Sagittarius, square expansive Jupiter, watch the tendency to overdo and bluntly share unsolicited opinions.
Early on Nov 9 until 5:33pm on Nov 11, the Moon attires herself in business suit Capricorn, displaying her no-nonsense determination to make the most of these next few days. Her conjunction to the North Node and Pluto on the 9th can get a bit pushy in the name of responsibility, and yet the motive may justify the means.
Nov 10 may start out serious as the Moon squares Saturn, but that evening her collaboration with the Sun can provide the organization to do what needs to be done. Then her journey through late Capricorn early on Nov 11 produces a creative hook-up with Jupiter and Uranus, with both practical and inventive results.
Things seem brighter lately with the Moon in innovative Aquarius, encouraging us to try something new from the evening of Nov 11 to the wee hours on Nov 14. Favorable aspects to Mercury, Mars, and Saturn on the 12th enable stimulating communication, lively action, and unusual solutions that keep us moving.
"Karma karma karma karma chameleon,
You come and go, you come and go."
-- Michael Craig/Jon Moss/Phil Pickett/Roy Hay/George O'Dowd
When Pluto conjuncts the North Node in Capricorn on Nov 13, it's time to sign on the dotted line and commit to our individuated participation in the Book of Life. Pluto's opposition to the South Node in Cancer reminds us to finally put away our childish toys (fears, guilt, and excuses), as the world is ready and our debut is fast approaching. It's not so important what we do as the commitment to authentically respond, which will alchemize real personal power now and in the years to come.
Then lunar aspects on Nov 13 and 14, in Aquarius and Pisces, activate the idealism and spiritual compassion that provide the emotional incentive to carry us along our journey.
Mid-month heavenly interactions on Nov 15 may give us the mile markers we've been seeking to assure us that we're not just living a common illusion. (Well, in some ways, we are, but that's a whole different discussion.) First, Mars sextiles Saturn, an excellent opportunity for planning and patiently executing a variety of projects. Then, Lady Luck shines her countenance upon us as the Sun trines benevolent Jupiter, blessing us with both spiritual and material well-being. The positive perspective in itself will encourage us to easily engage in transformative changes and new experiences that expand our world.

October 2010 - Part II
"You better think (think) think about what you're trying to do to me.
Yeah, think (think, think), let your mind go, let yourself be free.
...Oh, freedom (freedom), freedom (freedom), freedom, yeah freedom."
-- Aretha Franklin/Tad White
With Venus retrograde in Scorpio into November, we're all immersed in ongoing reassessment of our relationships and the expression of our value systems throughout our lives. What do we believe about ourselves that misguides us into inappropriate behaviors and unfulfilling circumstances? The realizations that emerge at this time can trigger major shifts on deep levels that will manifest in our inner and outer life.
The Moon in Pisces from 10:52 pm on Oct 17 until Oct 20 at 11:24 am softens our attitudes and sets an ethereal stage for visioning the path to dreams come true. Romantic and spiritual reflections flow forth when Mercury trines Neptune and Chiron on Oct 18. Surely this aspect was in force when the poet Rumi penned his best work. Then, on Oct 19, the diplomatic Libran Sun joins the inspired group trining Neptune and Chiron, calling for a renewed mission into higher dimensions.
"Long as I remember the rain been comin' down
Clouds of mystery pourin' confusion on the ground
Good men through the ages tryin' to find the sun.
And I wonder still I wonder who'll stop the rain."
-- John Fogerty
When Mercury moves into penetrating Scorpio from Oct 20 until Nov 8, we can feel the build-up of moisture in our weather and floods of emotions that have been dammed up for too long. It's time to finally go beneath the surface and get to the root of it all. With Mars trine Jupiter, also in water signs, this can auger a fortunate period to release the past, ride this tide, and move forward with greater momentum.
Oct 22 is jam-packed with powerful aspects leading up to the second Full Moon in Aries this year. That morning, Mars squares Neptune and later Chiron, often signifying a distorted or deceptive use of assertive energy. So slow down and allow the dust to clear before moving into high gear. Helpfully, perceptive Mercury in Scorpio sextiles mighty Pluto, giving us the ballast we need to keep one foot on the ground and clear the misinformation from the facts.
This is also the first of five consecutive Full Moons to occur in the last degree of a sign, signifying the completion of a major cycle of development. Once again this month we are addressing the dichotomy between personal desires and the yearning for partnership. It is a time when we reach to find ways to maintain and grow our individuality while remaining open to cooperative collaborations and heart-centered relationships. Here is where we can learn to connect deeply without having to lose our own selves in the process. With Venus conjunct Vesta and Poseidon, the concept of the sacred feminine takes on a fresh meaning that fosters receptivity to a more infinite reality, beyond our differences, to model a new paradigm.
"Then time will tell just who fell
And who's been left behind
When you go your way and I go mine."
-- Bob Dylan
The influence of the Sun in determined Scorpio from Oct 23 to Nov 22 pressures us to probe the depths of our feelings and our interactions. Whether we choose to dismantle toxic relationships or dysfunctional parts of ourselves (or both), the need to transform and move on is paramount. To continue on my Dylan fest, the bottom line is "That he not busy being born is busy dying."
With Mercury in Scorpio and the Moon in Taurus, both conferring with the Nodes on Oct 23, we're sure to come up with practical approaches to smooth the birth process.
Innovative sparks light the way for new directions and forms of expression on Oct 24, when Mars trines inventive Uranus. Later that evening, when the Moon is sextile to Jupiter, we may bask in the comfort of our progress.
Almost anything can sound sweetly seductive (and likely is) when Mercury conjuncts Venus in Scorpio on Oct 25. This sugar-coated power duo has the ability to sway the most dogmatic minds.
Speaking of power, the Sun sextile Pluto on Oct 26 enables us to institute changes that we've been considering for a while. The regenerative effect of this aspect can help to clear up long-standing resistances and obstacles to get to the bottom line.
On Oct 27 lunar aspects take us from spiritual optimism through unexpected circumstances to possible emotional power struggles. But all's well that ends well, as the Sun sextiles the Nodes, bringing a sense of safety and security that calms and reassures us.
On Oct 28, Venus conjoins the Sun and brings in an air of sweetness and rewards. Also on the 28th, the pace picks up when Mars enters fiery Sagittarius until Dec 7. Enthusiasm can urge us to promote a worthy cause or go overboard in self-righteous judgment. Still, this optimistic warrior is motivated by ideals and willing to work for them. So allow for independent space and get plenty of physical activity for that exhilarating sense of freedom.
The Moon's trine to Jupiter, Uranus, and Mars on Oct 29 keeps us feeling fit and fine. Then Luna's entrance into playful Leo that evening through Oct 31 keeps us in the mood for a weekend of partying and fun. Since yours truly will be attending a ** year high school reunion in Connecticut, I'm most grateful for the astrological scene setting.
"Hey hey, my my

Hey hey, my my."

October 2010 - Part I
"Darlin' if you want me to be closer to you, get closer to me.
...Darlin' if you want me to love, love only you, then love only me.
Darlin' if you want me to see, see only you, then see only me."
-- James Seals, Dash Crofts
With Saturn in partnership-seeking Libra, and Venus and Mars traveling in tandem in passionate Scorpio, the principles of balance and give and take are in the forefront this first week of October. Add to that Venus Retrograde from Oct 8 into November, and all interpersonal, sexual, and financial interactions are up for re-evaluation. What do we really want and what are we willing to give? Also, where are we no longer willing to overextend ourselves down the road of no return?
Minds can be opened and possibilities expanded when Mercury opposes expansive Jupiter on Oct 1. Just be sure to keep one foot on Earth to ground the process. Then, Sir Mercury moves on to oppose electric Uranus on Oct 2, stimulating the appearance of unusual ideas and eclectic approaches while motivating us to act.
On Oct 3, the busy winged messenger enters diplomatic Libra until Oct 20, adding to the likelihood of greater harmony and cooperation in the midst of change. Also on the 3rd, Venus and Mars exactly meet in sexy Scorpio, deepening our desire to connect in powerful ways.
The Moon in analytical Virgo from 4 pm on Oct 4 until near 4 pm on Oct 6 sharpens our mental faculties and urges us to clean up those lingering tasks. With Mercury squaring Pluto on Oct 5th, good detective work can get to the truth of the matter, provided we refrain from getting too heavy-handed in absolutes.
Life is very short, and there's no time,
For fussing and fighting, my friend.
I have always thought that it's a crime,
So I will ask you once again.
Try to see it my way,
Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong.
While you see it your way,
There's a chance that we may fall apart before too long.
We can work it out. We can work it out."
-- Paul McCartney/John Lennon
On Oct 7, the Super New Moon, along with Mercury and Saturn in Libra, generates a considerable gravitational pull on our physical and emotional bodies, seeking new standards for individual and global relationships. Unique to this particular New Moon is the series of pairings of planetary bodies that denote new ways for humankind to interact with one another in unusual, yet respectful, combinations.
Also, with Mercury exactly square the Nodes and Saturn within range of that square until Oct 19, the call is heard to give up our childish defensive behaviors and mature into our authentic adulthood and its fulfilling legacy. Personally and professionally, responsibility translates into mutual justice and integrity.
It's time to review the value of our personal and financial alliances and commitments when Venus moves retrograde in Scorpio on Oct 8 through Nov 18. This protracted journey through Scorpio, then Libra (Nov 7 -29), and Scorpio again until Jan 7, 2011, can take us deeper than ever before in our understanding of our real values and their expression through our relationships and resources. What we discover may please or dismay us; yet, it can certainly open the door to new definitions and pathways for these areas of our lives from Nov 19 on.
Also on Oct 8, Mercury conjuncts no-nonsense Saturn for a dose of down-to-earth thinking, as we begin to take in the need for ongoing revisions. Late afternoon that day until early evening on Oct 10, the Moon in Scorpio awakens our desire nature, especially on Oct 9, as she plays Delilah with Venus and Mars. Enjoy the allure of the senses, but do avoid the free haircut.
From the evening of Oct 10 through Oct 12, the Moon in Sagittarius fills us with a sense of optimism. Perhaps it was that same adventurous feeling that prompted Columbus to set sail, ultimately earning his October namesake day. Exuberant aspects to Jupiter and Uranus on Oct 12 may keep us buoyed up, but watch the tendency to overestimate or shoot past the mark.
The Moon in Capricorn from Oct 13 to 10:24 am on Oct 15 reminds us of our obligations and motivates us to accomplish them in ways that bring fulfillment and inner well-being. Harmonious aspects to Jupiter and Uranus on the morning of Oct 15 confirm a job well-done with rewarding feedback.
Stimulating energy sparks the environment and clears away the work-week duties from the morning of Oct 15 to late on Oct 17 with the Moon in scintillating Aquarius. Exhilarating ideas flow freely as the Sun conjuncts Mercury and both enliven clever repartee with witty Aquarian Lady Luna.

September 2010 - Part II
"Oh, time, time, time is on my side, yes it is
I said, time, time, time is on my side, yes it is..."
-- Jerry Ragovoy
With Mercury picking up forward speed in Virgo for the rest of September, we're ready to dig in and straighten up all those lingering projects, closets, and habits that exasperated us during the recent retrograde period.
The Moon in solid Capricorn from the evening of Sep 15 through Sep 17 grounds our efforts to create a workable blueprint that reflects more of who we are, and less of what we thought we had to do. Luna's conjunction to Pluto on the 15th and the North Node on the 16th deepens our determination to deal with whatever arises, rather than deflecting it. Helpful aspects to the Sun in Virgo on the 17th will guarantee that responsible actions yield long-term benefits.
The Moon in objective Aquarius on Sep 18 helps us to maintain perspective in the midst of disarming shifts that resonate all week. Falling on the transformational Day of Atonement, Jupiter joins eccentric Uranus in Pisces in the second of three conjunctions that began on Jun 8 in Aries and will repeat on Jan 4, 2011, marking a new twelve-year cycle. Between now and January, this Jupiter Uranus duo in Pisces continues to infuse us with spiritual insights and revelations regarding our true nature and connection to a greater reality. The more that we make space to receive this energy now, the smoother our transition will be in the coming changing times.
Also on Sep 18, intense Lord Mars in Scorpio sextiles unstoppable Pluto in Capricorn to give us superior tools capable of handling this next level of mastery. Practical application of our new skills becomes evident on Sep 19 when the next step appears as Mercury trines the North Node.
Unexpected surprises dot the landscape for the next week, exact on Sep 21, when the Sun in order-loving Virgo opposes Jupiter and Uranus in free-flowing Pisces. Offers and opportunities may arise spontaneously and can indeed bear gifts. Just double check to test for gold or pyrite, and be open to a shifting course.
Usually, the Autumn Equinox (Spring in the Southern Hemisphere) in Libra, late on Sep 22, marks a time of harmonious accommodation. However, attempts at balance and accord are hard pressed as the Moon conjuncts Jupiter and Uranus hours later, on her way to opposing the Sun in a Full Moon confrontation on Sep 23. Implosive events and ideas can awaken or shake us up personally and globally, so the need for flexibility takes precedence. With the Moon in Aries squaring indomitable Pluto and opposing authoritarian Saturn, unacceptable limitations in our current lives, as well as world situations, become obvious. Institutions may falter as courses detour. What isn't working needs to be replaced, so clearing the space becomes a priority. Only those structures and relationships that are meaningful will survive and grow.
For those defending the status quo, the drama continues when the Sun squares Pluto on Sep 25 and stubbornness just produces increased tension. By the same token, willingness to release what no longer serves us can free us from unconscious self-limiting patterns for life-altering transformation.
The Moon in Taurus from 4:17 pm on Sep 25 through Sep 27 arouses the earthier side of our nature. Positive aspects to Pluto late on the 25th should help us to institute creative, yet comfortable, change with ease. Then the Moon opposes Mars and Venus, while Mars aligns with the Nodes on Sep 26, impelling us to feed our senses and nurture our physical being.
The last week of September may feel like an extended Full Moon, as ongoing aspects clear the clutter of outworn habits and mismatched relationships. Saturn squares the Nodes on Sep 29, restructuring areas of insecurity. On Sep 30 we test the revised emotional waters as the Moon squares Jupiter and Uranus to see how we field the unexpected. Then the Sun squares the Nodes, reminding us to stay on track and true to our real responses. With the Moon in Cancer opposing Pluto and square Saturn, and the Sun conjunct Saturn, the air of "seriousity" hangs heavy. There is no room for illusion or alliances that compromise who we are. Personally and professionally, only those circumstances that meet our authentic selves can go forward, as it is time for either course correction or deeper levels of commitment. During this time also, our honest assessments and follow-through and completion of lingering obligations will bring deep fulfillment and surprising rewards.

There's an easier pace this September that's a welcome respite from August's intensity and times yet to come. Although we may be busy and the weather can challenge, the extended journey of Mercury Retrograde in Virgo gives us the focus and discrimination to straighten up and fly right. Plus, on Sep 2, the Virgo Sun synchronizes with the Nodes, yielding a marvelous combination of productivity and emotional well-being.
"Everybody's talkin' at me
I don't hear a word they're sayin'
Only the echoes of my mind."
-- Fred Neil
When the Sun conjuncts Retrograde Mercury on Sep 3, our head can be filled with considerations, realizations, and lists marked "to do" and "catch up." While the sentiment is appropriate, keeping an attitude of mellow and mindful will best complete the job.
Next, Mercury attunes with the Nodes, assuring balance between inner and outer fulfillment on Sep 4. Also on the 4th, relationships and visionary ideals take center stage and keep us smiling as romantic Venus trines ethereal Neptune.
The musing continues on Sep 5, as Lady Venus trines Chiron, weaving a latticework bridge from the outer dimensions to Earth. Add in the cheerful Leo Moon on Sep 5 and 6 and we might rename Labor Day to Play Day.
The New Moon in Virgo on Sep 8 deeply seeds our current theme of clearing without criticism and organizing what is useful without compulsion. This process of refinement is essential to masterfully crafting our bodies, our minds, and our environments to house our expanding consciousness. At the same time, Venus moves from delicate Libra into passionate Scorpio, with a retrograde adventure in October and November that keeps the potency probing until January 2011.
On Sep 9, the Jewish New Year ushers Jupiter back into Pisces until Jan 22, 2011 to revisit the foundations of our faith and spiritual beliefs. With the Moon in Libra aspected by Pluto and Saturn, the reality of our circumstances may exert some pressure. Yet, it is during this time that we are encouraged to shine our light of compassion and forgiveness in full circle around and within us. With Mars trine Neptune also on the 9th, ecstatic experiences can carry us into a greater harmonic flow, fostered by the gentle Libran Moon on the 10th.
Piercing the veil of the mysterious on Sep 11 and 12, the Moon in Scorpio persistently roots out complex motivations for better understanding. With Venus sextile Pluto, also on the 12th, advantages and resources are readily available. Later that day, Mercury reties his Nikes, takes a deep breath, and turns forward to resume his direct motion toward more visible progress.
In the same spirit of future vision, Pluto goes direct on Sep 13, reminding us to take charge and get in the game while the wheel of fortune is spinning in our direction. We know that sweeping changes are still afoot, so we might as well add our input as part of the lead team.
Powerfully instinctive with a strong presence, Mars moves into Scorpio on Sep 14 until Oct 28, joining up with Venus and amplifying the intensity of attraction, determination, and emotional engagement. Fortunately, the Moon in Sagittarius from the morning of Sep 13 to 4:30 pm on Sep 15 will help us to wax philosophical as we navigate the airways in this increasing frequency.
"Can man lift himself by his bootstraps? Why not? All he has to do is increase his buoyancy and he will effortlessly rise to a higher state. Force cannot accomplish that feat; power not only can, but constantly does."

August 2010 - Part II
"I've looked at life from both sides now,
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall;
I really don't know life at all."
-- Joni Mitchell
As the second Jupiter/Saturn opposition is upon us on Aug 16, we feel the pull between the desire for continued personal expansion and the sense that more integration first may be timely. Decisions and choices that we made back in 2000 are midway in their cycle, allowing us the realization that we now know that we didn't know as much as we thought we knew. And that's okay, because this is the time (and again in March 2011) to make those adjustments to better align with our emerging destiny. No shame, no blame, just keep shifting. For most of the month, Venus conjunct Mars in Libra should help to offset resistance from the usual suspects, including a Retrograde Mercury on Aug 20.
The Moon in optimistic Sagittarius from Aug 17 to the morning of Aug 19 will keep us envisioning positive outcomes. Then Lady Luna's move into Capricorn can take us through a series of roadblocks and detours aspecting Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto on the 19th. Yet the Capricorn persistence can likely keep us focused and productive.
Aug 20 starts out with an air of gentleness and romantic possibilities as the Sun opposes Neptune, and Venus and Mars waltz into their exact conjunction. While grace can certainly smile upon the day, the fogs of Neptune admonish us to take more of a wait and see approach. And then there's the Mercury Retrograde at 3:53pm until Sep 12 at 7:01pm. Being the clever and responsible group that you all are, by this time your computers are surely updated and backed up, with all your important documents and agreements signed, sealed, and delivered. In any case, this retro-foray in Virgo is ideal for reviewing data, details, and our commitment to health. For more information, see Mercury Retrograde.
"We can try to understand
The NewYork Times' effect on man.
Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother,
You're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin',
And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive."
-- Barry Gibb/Maurice Gibb/Robin Gibb
When Saturn squares Pluto on Aug 21, the third of a transformational trio since Nov 2009, we are called upon to take the next steps in the consolidation that ensures our continued survival. It is through this process of careful assessment and willing change that our real paths can unfold in timely synchronicity. As challenging as this may seem, the rewarding effects of our diligent participation can be monumental.
The Moon's entry into eccentric Aquarius from late evening of Aug 21 to 10:11 am on Aug 24 maintains an objective perspective while encouraging us to enjoy a special venture off the beaten path -- especially if our birthday falls on Aug 22.
The determination to clear up, throw out, and categorize can operate like clockwork when the Sun moves into Virgo from Aug 23 to Sep 22, as long as we also eliminate the tendency to criticize or aim for impossible perfection. Focusing on what is essential can produce admirable concrete results.
On Aug 24, the Full Moon in Pisces heightens our yearning for divine connection and spiritual fulfillment, while the Sun in Virgo insists on knowing the pragmatic applications. Actually, at this point in our evolution it's reasonable for us to want both. And so appears the mighty Pluto, in supportive aspect to both the Sun and Moon, providing the alchemical formula for visionary manifestation. As the equation appears, we personalize the elements and provide the legwork. Then on Aug 25 the Moon, still in Pisces, harmonizes with the Nodes to elicit emotional and material resources to solidify projects.
Major changes are supported when the Sun trines powerful Pluto for days around Aug 26. During this period, willingness and action to move from old patterns can result in profound personal evolution and successful imminent opportunities.
The Moon in Aries on Aug 27 may have us working out our deeper issues in wee morning dreams to clear the way for a few busy and productive days. The slower paced Moon in Taurus from the morning of Aug 29 through 31 offers a welcomed respite with favorable aspects to Pluto, the Sun, and Mercury for relaxing interactions, enjoyable creature comforts, and fruitful future planning.
Everyone is helpful, everyone is kind
On the road to Shambala
Everyone is lucky, everyone is so kind
On the road to Shambala
How does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala
How does your light shine
In the halls of Shambala"

August 2010 - Part I
"I see a bad moon arisin'.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin'.
I see bad times today.
Don't go 'round tonight
It's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise...
Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we're in for nasty weather..."
-- John Fogerty
Much of August 2010 reminds us that in order to live well, it's time to absolutely let the old ways die. Anyone still rooting for the good old days is probably due for a rude awakening. That said, the fallout from a world reinvented can also bring unexpected benefits from unlikely places. So keep in mind that the most monumental beginnings are built on the rubble of recycled endings. Just look at the luscious produce nourished by decaying compost.
Carried over from late July, the Mars/Saturn conjunction and its opposition to Uranus continue to drive our economy and our interactions in early August like a teenager learning to operate a stick shift vehicle. The awkward determination to move forward independently is focused, challenged, and sometimes stalled by the need to integrate new concepts into experience.
The Moon in Taurus from Aug 2 to midday on Aug 4 turns our attention to comfort and our desire for security. Helpful lunar aspects on the 2nd bolster our confidence in our own ability to master the changes ahead.
Are those firecrackers, gunshots, or giant popping corn agitating our already edgy feelings on Aug 3 as Jupiter squares Pluto? Power plays and bully tactics will meet with equal resistance, so better offer a mutual meeting point, or at least a token candy bar.
The push to prevail runs right through Aug 4. Assertive Mars opposes expansive Jupiter as both square off with potent Pluto, raising the tension level to breath-holding tightened jaw and frozen stiff neck. The temptation to overextend or react from reptilian mode calls for at least five counts in a soothing yoga pose before jumping anywhere. Later that day, supportive aspects to the Moon may release some of the intensity so that clearer minds can prevail.
The usually nurturing Moon in Cancer may take some unusual turns on the evening of Aug 6. This connection to the Cardinal Cross building by the outer planets can bring some uncomfortable circumstances to the surface. At the same time, Mercury in Virgo linking with the Nodes can help us to move from the feelings aroused to concrete action.
Also on the 6th, lovely Venus moves into Libra until Sep 8. Normally, Venus is quite elegant and charming in her home sign; however, aspects over the next few weeks may take her through a few elimination rounds before she assumes her rightful reigning status. Her opposition to eccentric Uranus on Aug 7 may have her looking less like Aphrodite and more like Lady Gaga. In any case, expect sudden changes and be open to exploration.
Hopefully, your experimentation didn't take you far enough to lose your way, as Venus bumps right into Saturn on Aug 8 and accountability takes precedence. Yet, who knows? Sometimes it's that quirky turn that inspires us to buckle down and tie up all those loose ends to set us free.
"When you see the Southern Cross for the first time
You understand now why you came this way.
'Cause the truth you might be runnin' from is so small.
But it's as big as the promise - the promise of a comin' day."
-- Richard Curtis/Michael Curtis/Stephen Stills
The New Moon in Leo on Aug 9 is both challenging and promising. With Uranus opposing Vesta, and Venus opposing Jupiter, economic and financial swings can feel unnerving, especially in the midst of our ongoing global and political power struggles. But, the energy of this Super New Moon (closest to Earth and stronger electromagnetic pull) in Leo reminds us that our true journey is along the creative path of our opening heart. Certainly we live in radical times, and the real revolution is the shift in consciousness that dares us to share our authentic selves as we collaborate toward a new world order.
"The power of love is a curious thing
Make a one man weep, make another man sing
Change a hawk to a little white dove
More than a feeling that's the power of love."
-- Huey Lewis/John Christopher/John Victor Colla
As Venus squares Pluto on Aug 10, we are asked to differentiate between the love of control and the power of love -- in both relationships and in finance. For it is only as we release that tight grip on any situation that all abundance can freely flow.
The Moon in Virgo from the evening of Aug 10 to the evening of Aug 12 gives us some space to sort out the events of the past week and organize our priorities for the rest of this busy month.
On Aug 13, Uranus slips back into Pisces until Mar 10, 2011. This temporary respite from fiery Aries gives us welcome time to assimilate many of the radical concepts and changes we have experienced over the last few months.
The Moon in transformational Scorpio late Aug 14 through 16 draws us into our own emotional and spiritual depths, to release stale patterns and uncover hidden talents ready to debut in our lives. With all the recent astrological activity shaking up our world, this opportunity to deepen our self-awareness comes in perfect synchronicity.

July 2010 - Part II
"I've got a song. I ain't got no melody;
How'm I gonna sing it to my friends?
I've got a song. I ain't got no melody;
How'm I gonna sing it to my friends?
Will it go 'round in circles?
Will it fly high like a bird up in the sky?"

Just because innovative Uranus is retrograde, don't mistake its directional shift for the end of the process. What's
been set in motion retains its creative activation, and new modes of
expression are yet to orbit through our world to reshape our lives for
years.
The Moon in Libra usually sets a sociable table; however, aspects to Jupiter and Uranus on Jul 16 may invite more than we bargained for. Then Pluto joins in late afternoon, dictating deeper probing and focus.
Emotionally and environmentally, hidden toxins can push for release on Jul 18, when Saturn squares Hades and decomposition puts pressure on that which has been repressed. Hopefully, a little metaphorical nitrous oxide will take the edge off the palliative root canal.
Humanitarian principles can be resurrected from Jul 20 until Feb 9, 2011, when Chiron retrogrades into Aquarius and our mind gets a chance to integrate what spirit has been telling us.
On Jul 21 Saturn re-enters Libra where he sets up residence until Oct 5, 2011, persistently campaigning for fairness, balance, and equality in all relationships and interactions. How do we wish to redefine human interactions and the alliances they form? The Libran style may be diplomatic, but Saturn is no slouch when it comes to standing up for justice. Plus,
from his initial entry into Libra, Saturn is nose-to-nose opposing
outlaw Uranus and his band of freedom-at-any-cost rebels.
"It's summertime, summertime
Sum-sum-summertime
Summertime, summertime
Sum-sum-summertime"
-- Sherm Feller/Tom Jameson
From Jul 22 until Aug 23, the Sun enters confident Leo and our thoughts turn to beach lyrics and Northern Hemisphere summer play. With the Sun in harmony with Saturn on the 22nd, planning should go smoothly, minus the inevitable weather snafus down the line.
Lots of movement and unpredictable change fill the rest of July. With the Sun trine Uranus on Jul 23,
unexpected happenings can bring that lucky break we've been hoping for.
Conflicting aspects to the Moon can pull us in opposite directions, yet
show us resourceful ways to fulfill more facets of ourselves. Also on
the 23rd, Jupiter moves retrograde until Nov 18, buying us time to develop inner and outer foundations for recent new directions.
The dynamic tension of Jupiter square Pluto can be felt for weeks around its exact aspect on Jul 24. Manifestations
can range from major dogmatic power plays to profound philosophical
realizations that lead us to a deep sense of purpose.
"Every time I think that I'm the only one who's lonely
Someone calls on me..."
-- Tandyn Almer (The Association)
The Full Moon in Aquarius on Jul 25 highlights the personal and global survival issues rocking the core of our current world quandary. While
the Sun in Leo informs us to lead from the heart, the Moon in Aquarius
reminds us to also expand that perspective to include the greater
oneness of us all. Old models bullied us into believing that our only choice was one or the other -- me or you/us or them -- in order to be safe. As we look around, we can see what that has brought us. Status
quo now equals fatal stagnation. The truth is that from our present
evolutionary precipice, we are being brought over the edge of our
knowledge into a revolutionary experience of transformation. New frontiers are already a part of our daily living. And we really do have one another upon whom we can call.
From the last week of July through early August, our planet moves through a period of tremendous volatility. As
the former structures disintegrate, it is reassuring to recall that
even the joy of birth is preceded by the instability of the unknown. On Jul 26, Mercury opposes Neptune and it's hard to differentiate idealistic musings from carnival con as boundaries are nebulous. Fortunately,
the Sun trines Jupiter on the same day, promising us that even in the
midst of challenge, a greater purpose will emerge. Also on the 26th, the final opposition of Saturn to Uranus (the fourth since Nov 2008) makes its stand. Geological,
political, and economic upheavals are possible to accelerate our
individual and social rebuilding. Once again, in the spirit of the mid
1960s, Saturn in Libra calls for new definitions of collaborative
structures that can also encompass the Uranian cry for individual
freedom of authentic expression.
When Mercury opposes Chiron on Jul 27, we may
feel the pull between the need for personal credit and the desire to
actually make a difference. Luckily, by early evening the winged
messenger moves into analytical Virgo until Oct 3, and data and solutions take precedence over bravado. This propensity for mental acuity can untangle many a puzzle, as long as we avoid the never-ending tunnel of detail obsession.
Assertive Mars can seem to lose his bearings when he enters Libra from Jul 29 until Sep 14. Statesmanship and charm can promote good will, unless indecision takes over and paralyzes the whole process. Agitation over the next few days demands some sort of action, if only to avoid passive-aggressive miscalculation.
With Mercury trine Pluto exact on Jul 30, help is at hand to penetrate beyond all the bluster to the source of current issues. As Mars opposes Uranus on the same day, we'll need the clarity, as upheaval and eruptions can unsettle our plans. That
evening, the Moon in Aries bounces contacts from Uranus to Mars,
Saturn, and Pluto, calling for the deep inner grounding that bypasses
the panic button and holds the space that Jupiter can reward.
Pulling it all together on Jul 31, Mars conjoins Saturn and practical perspective is restored. Although
the ideal structures are still in the process of materializing, our
commitment to personal growth and participation in an unfolding future
foretells the possibility of fulfilling transformation.
"And may we heed the solemn admonition set forth in
this book - not to fritter away in the worthless doings of this world
the supreme opportunity afforded by human birth, lest by our spiritual
improvidence we depart from this life spiritually empty-handed."

July 2010 - Part I
"During this present period of Individual
Awakening, the first of the three creative periods, you are being given the
opportunity to embrace this true definition as the cornerstone of your
existence."
-- Raphael through Ken Carey
Regardless
of our individual variations, with Uranus and Jupiter in Aries at this point,
all roads can lead to deep revelations of personal truth and a foreshadowing of
global changes through the next five years.
The phrase "be all that you can be" really is an appropriate
mantra for our current time. So which
"new you" are you ready to birth?
The makeover window is wide open as the winds of change carry our
collective consciousness into unexplored dimensions.
Clever ideas
and creative inventions, especially for the home or office, are possible on Jul 1 when Mercury in Cancer sextiles
Mars in Virgo. Harmonious aspects from
the Moon to the Sun and the Nodes will have us smiling at our efficient
productivity.
The Moon in
Aries on Jul 3, 4, and 5 until 8:30 pm will really pick up the
pace. Conjunctions to Uranus and Jupiter
on the 3rd can also open
doors to new experiences and contacts.
With the Sun
conjunct the South Node on Jul 3 and
the Moon square the Nodes and the Sun on Jul
4th, we may find ourselves wavering between the call to adventure and the
snuggly security of our home base. In
addition, the effects of a Moon wobble early in the month can touch off hypersensitive
emotional responses. Just keep in mind
that the feelings aroused may be coming from your repository of past
experiences in a process of release.
Once cleared, everything may look quite different; so hold off on
reactive decisions for now, and keep the fireworks in the sky.
From May 27 to Jul 5, Uranus in Aries has been showering us with lightening-like
realizations and insights. When Uranus
moves retrograde in Aries from Jul 5
to Aug 13, we get the chance to
evaluate and integrate all the new information and personal changes we've been
taking in these past few months. It's
time to again find out who's that behind those Foster Grants. Then, as ingenious Uranus continues back in
Pisces from Aug 13 to Dec 5, the vestiges of old visions
and ideals can be reconstituted or sent to Goodwill.
With the
Moon in earthy Taurus in helpful aspects to Pluto, the Sun, Mars, Mercury, and
the Nodes, Jul 6 and 7 are great days to take charge and get
things done. This practical energy will
enable us to lay needed groundwork and skillfully produce effective and
rewarding projects.
While the
Moon in Gemini on Jul 8 and 9 can keep us hopping and communicating
most of the day, Venus opposing Neptune in the evening of the 8th is more suited to
artistic or creative dreaming and
perhaps a taste of yummy ice cream.
If you have
any loose ends to complete, it's worth it to get up extra early on Jul 9 when Mercury sextiles Saturn and
you can sail through those details.
Besides, at 12:30 pm winged Mercury moves into Leo until Jul 27, and paperwork and mundane tasks
may be moved to the bottom of the list.
Who wants to file when we can be conjuring up grand projects? Adding to the inventive flurry, Mercury
trines Uranus and brainstorming can bring on a deluge of original ideas.
The velocity
diminishes a bit on Jul 10 as Venus
enters prim Virgo until Aug 6 and
analysis trumps romance. With Venus also opposing Chiron, it's tempting to
judge according to our idealized concepts of what should be. This energy is
best used to accurately assess what is essential, rather than criticize
perceived flaws in self or others.
"See the curtains hangin' in the window
In the evenin' on a Friday night
A little light-a-shinin' through the window
Lets me know everything's all right.
Summer breeze makes me feel fine
Blowin' through the jasmine in my mind."
-- James Seals/Dash Crofts
Usually, the specter of a
Total Solar Eclipse New Moon evokes images of drama and crisis. Although quite powerful, this Eclipse in
Cancer on Jul 11 may reveal the
means to resolve lingering sensitivity issues and family dynamics. Aspects to the Nodes may uncover the
self-indulgent chinks in our emotional armor that have isolated us, as well as
new ways to reach out and truly connect. With Mars in Virgo supporting the
Sun/Moon, the missing pieces for our wounded sense of security may shift right
into place. As Mercury trines optimistic
Jupiter, our sense of home and relationship can take on revised meaning.
From the morning of Jul 12 through the morning of Jul 14, the Moon in playful Leo
encourages us to follow our hearts as we give and receive love. Stimulating aspects to Uranus and Jupiter
awaken our enthusiasm. Whatever excites and calls to us can no longer be
ignored. When Venus trines Pluto on the 13th,
our involvement in relationships or creative projects can deepen and provide much
fulfillment and possibly passion.
With the
Moon in Virgo from the morning of Jul 13
to 10:25 am on Jul 15, we should be
brilliant at zipping through all that unread junk mail, emails, and filing
tasks -- as long as we don't get caught up in the loop of over-editing and
grammar correction. Collaboration with
Pluto and Venus on the 14th
can result in some wise budgeting and rewarding financial moves. Also, remember to take advantage of Saturn's
last weeks in Virgo until Jul 21. All the inner and outer housecleaning since September of 2007 is ready to pay off,
so finish up those final touches.
" I challenge you above all to a
deeper life, and I implore you for the sake of your fellow men to strengthen your
contact with your own soul, so that you will have done your share in making
revelation possible; so that you will
have served your part in bringing in the light, and will therefore be in a
position to take advantage of that new light and new information, and so be better
able to point the way and clear the path for the bewildered seeker at that
time."

June 2010 - Part II
"When I look out my window
What do you think I see?
And when I look in my window
So many different people to be
It's strange, sure it's strange
You've got to pick up every stitch
You've got to pick up every stitch
The rabbits running in the ditch
Oh no, must be the season of the witch."
-- Donovan Leitch
Or should we say "Oh no, must be the season of Eclipse"? From the Solstice on Jun 21 right through August, we could find ourselves wondering what kind of season this possibly could be. It
may feel like we're hurtling through space, passing through two
Eclipses and a number of skirmishes in the Battle of the Planetary Big
Boys, dismantling our economy, our ecology, and who we used to be.
Yet, mid-June
has its redeeming qualities, especially as Venus in fun-loving Leo
keeps the dancing beat with Uranus and Jupiter, activating our love and
money cards from Jun 14 to Jun 18.
Lunar aspects on Jun 19
carry us through a contrasting range of emotions. Fortunately, except
for the night owls, those in the U.S. will work out most of the
conflicts in their dream time. Still, early morning
reality may be abrupt, as the Sun squares Saturn and our desire to get
down to brass tacks directs most of the day. Late
afternoon through the evening, we can feel the loveliness of the Sun
trine Neptune as we're drawn to a spiritual gathering or perhaps a
viewing of an uplifting movie.
How nice to have the Moon in gentle Libra on Father's Day, Jun 20. With amiable aspects of the Moon and Mercury, congenial conversation makes for a memorable time.
Just like the New Moon foreshadows the theme of the next 28 days, so the Solstice defines the season. It
should come as no surprise to hear that this summer (winter in the
southern hemisphere) is likely to be packed with challenges and
realizations, breakdowns and breakthroughs. The Sun in
Cancer advocates for holding on to the past and perceived safety, while
erratic Uranus bolts for the future and unknown frontiers. Simultaneously,
both the Sun and Uranus are at 0 degrees of cardinal signs, indicating
the certainty of global upheaval on many fronts, as Pluto continues to
demand a new order. Add expansive Jupiter to the mix and both principles and differences can appear overinflated. So untwist your knickers and fasten your seat belts -- it could be a bumpy ride.
On
the plus side, as we all know, these times always carry with them
profound reason and opportunity to grow and reference from a higher
perspective. A flexible and conscious approach to such life-altering
circumstances can bring out untapped talents and creative abilities to
map whole new paths to greater fulfillment. While some elements may require redefinition or relinquishment, others can appear that promise exciting reinvention. Though
our planet and our lives may be shaken, so is a malted, and the
yearning for a tasty new way has actually been calling to us for a
while. We are now entering the time when we can no longer deny the call.
Early on Jun 22,
aspects from the Sun to Chiron and the Moon to the Nodes weave a rope
bridge for our cautious exploration from what was to what might be.
Events that appear to be bigger than life probably are on Jun 23.
As the Sun squares Jupiter, amplifying and overextending current
imbalances, we can feel the pressure building toward the upcoming Grand Cross Eclipse on Jun 26. Yet, the Jupitarian optimism, along with the Moon in Sagittarius, can also encourage us to step forward and lead the way.
We can worry about what's still not complete or we can jump in and clear what sits in front of us on Jun 24, when Mercury squares Saturn. I'd get my workout shoes ready to go. Besides,
a few hours later we might want the cleared space to meditate, create,
or jot down those inspired visions when Mercury trines Neptune and our
mental wings are yearning to fly.
Thoughts melt into feelings when Mercury moves into emotion-based Cancer from Jun 25 until Jul 9. Although our receptors may be overly sensitive, our instincts can serve as finely honed radar in the uncharted territory ahead. Then unexpected news can knock out the best laid plans as Mercury squares eccentric Uranus. Do
note that this same energy can produce flashes of brilliant insight and
solutions. However, in the midst of this electrifying surge, a deep
dark rumbling can be felt, as the Sun faces off in opposition to Lord
Pluto. What's been hidden and festering must come to the surface. Like a planetary and personal root canal, that which is toxic will be released for the sake of real healing and rebuilding. And with Mercury trine Chiron, even the discomfort of the process can be seen in a larger context.
Somebody shake me (shake me), wake me (wake me)
When it's over (when it's over)
Somebody tell me that I'm dreamin'
And wake me when it's over"
-- Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland, Edward Holland
As the Full Moon Eclipse on Jun 26 tells us, there's no nitrous oxide cure to soften the reality of the mess our world is experiencing. Oil spills, ecological upheavals, economic woes, and clashing ideologies are rampant. Just
prior to the actual Eclipse, Mercury square Jupiter fills us with
exaggerated reports and too much information to make sense. Within arm's length of the Solstice, this partial lunar Eclipse is one of the most major alignments of the year. The Sun in Cancer desperately reaches for security, while the Moon in Capricorn demands adherence to duty. And with unyielding Pluto conjunct the Moon opposite the Sun, intense emotions are evoked by fierce power struggles.
In a Grand Cross lineup, Uranus/ Jupiter and Saturn join the fray as they square the Sun and Moon/Pluto and oppose each other. The
unexpected infuses our world and our personal lives. When the outer
slow-moving planets configure like this, we know that the results will
be dramatic and long-lasting. This crack in our collective psyche is way
beyond super glue. Political rhetoric and cosmetic fixes can no longer detour this crucial and much-needed turning point.
"Nowhere to run to, baby
Nowhere to hide
Got nowhere to run to, baby
Nowhere to hide"
--Brian Holland/Lamont Herbert Dozier/ Edward Holland
We can cover our heads and look for mythical cover, but... It's time to rewrite our personal and global scripts. We can try to keep pointing to outside blame and whimper in victim mode. But that sounds quite unattractive, as well as ineffective. We
can also opt for individual responsibility -- sweep up the broken
shards of what's not working, preserve the good stuff, and get on with
the next steps. The means for productive change are at hand if we are willing to reach for them. Although it may be scary, we don't have to be who we thought we had to be! We just have to be who we are. It's truly the best we can do and it's pretty darn good.
Still in the window of the Lunar Eclipse, Mercury opposes Pluto on Jun 27, deepening our thoughts and even exposing our fears. But then how else can we be free of them, unless we acknowledge their shadow?
Ideas can feel quite personal when the Sun joins Mercury in subjective Cancer on Jun 27. Realizations could be very helpful individually, yet may not apply as a general concept to others.
The Moon in cool Aquarius from the morning of Jun 28 to the evening of Jun 30 helps provide objective perspective for all the inner and outer upheaval. This
step back may reveal some stimulating alternative directions and
unusual resources that could lead to the freedom we are seeking. The
power of the recent Eclipse still reverberates, encouraging us to move
forward and dare to explore the gifts of a transforming world and our
place within it.

"When I look out my window

It's strange, sure it's strange
You've got to pick up every stitch
You've got to pick up every stitch
The rabbits running in the ditch
Oh no, must be the season of the witch."
-- Donovan Leitch
Or should we say "Oh
no, must be the season of Eclipse"? From the Solstice on Jun 21 right through August,
we could find ourselves wondering what kind of season this possibly could
be. It may feel like we're hurtling
through space, passing through two Eclipses and a number of skirmishes in the
Battle of the Planetary Big Boys, dismantling our economy, our ecology, and who
we used to be.
Yet, mid-June has its redeeming qualities, especially as Venus in
fun-loving Leo keeps the dancing beat with Uranus and Jupiter, activating our
love and money cards from Jun 14 to Jun 18.
Lunar aspects on Jun 19 carry us through a contrasting
range of emotions. Fortunately, except for the night owls, those in the U.S.
will work out most of the conflicts in their dreamtime. Still, early morning reality may be abrupt,
as the Sun squares Saturn and our desire to get down to brass tacks directs
most of the day. Late afternoon through
the evening, we can feel the loveliness of the Sun trine Neptune as we're drawn
to a spiritual gathering or perhaps a viewing of an uplifting movie.
How nice to have the Moon
in gentle Libra on Father's Day, Jun 20. With amiable aspects of the Moon and Mercury,
congenial conversation makes for a memorable time.
Just like the New Moon foreshadows the theme of the
next 28 days, so the Solstice defines
the season. It should come as no
surprise to hear that this summer (winter in the southern hemisphere) is likely
to be packed with challenges and realizations, breakdowns and
breakthroughs. The Sun in Cancer
advocates for holding on to the past and perceived safety, while erratic Uranus
bolts for the future and unknown frontiers.
Simultaneously, both the Sun and Uranus are at 0 degrees of cardinal
signs, indicating the certainty of global upheaval on many fronts, as Pluto
continues to demand a new order. Add
expansive Jupiter to the mix and both principles and differences can appear
overinflated. So untwist your knickers
and fasten your seat belts -- it could be a bumpy ride.
On the plus side, as we
all know, these times always carry with them profound reason and opportunity to
grow and reference from a higher perspective. A flexible and conscious approach
to such life-altering circumstances can bring out untapped talents and creative
abilities to map whole new paths to greater fulfillment. While some elements may require redefinition
or relinquishment, others can appear that promise exciting reinvention. Though our planet and our lives may be
shaken, so is a malted, and the yearning for a tasty new way has actually been
calling to us for a while. We are now entering
the time when we can no longer deny the call.
Early on Jun 22, aspects from the Sun to Chiron
and the Moon to the Nodes weave a rope bridge for our cautious exploration from
what was to what might be.
Events that appear to be
bigger than life probably are on Jun 23.
As the Sun squares Jupiter, amplifying and overextending current imbalances, we
can feel the pressure building toward the upcoming Grand Cross Eclipse on Jun
26. Yet, the Jupitarian optimism,
along with the Moon in Sagittarius, can also encourage us to step forward and
lead the way.
We can worry about what's
still not complete or we can jump in and clear what sits in front of us on Jun 24, when Mercury squares
Saturn. I'd get my workout shoes ready
to go. Besides, a few hours later we
might want the cleared space to meditate, create, or jot down those inspired
visions when Mercury trines Neptune and our mental wings are yearning to fly.
Thoughts melt into
feelings when Mercury moves into emotion-based Cancer from Jun 25 until Jul 9. Although our receptors may be overly
sensitive, our instincts can serve as finely honed radar in the uncharted
territory ahead. Then unexpected news
can knock out the best laid plans as Mercury squares eccentric Uranus. Do note that this same energy can produce
flashes of brilliant insight and solutions. However, in the midst of this
electrifying surge, a deep dark rumbling can be felt, as the Sun faces off in
opposition to Lord Pluto. What's been
hidden and festering must come to the surface.
Like a planetary and personal root canal, that which is toxic will be
released for the sake of real healing and rebuilding. And with Mercury trine Chiron, even the
discomfort of the process can be seen in a larger context.

As the Full Moon Eclipse on Jun 26 tells us, there's no nitrous
oxide cure to soften the reality of the mess our world is experiencing. Oil spills, ecological upheavals, economic
woes, and clashing ideologies are rampant. Just prior to the actual Eclipse, Mercury
square Jupiter fills us with exaggerated reports and too much information to
make sense. Within arm's length of the
Solstice, this partial lunar Eclipse is one of the most major alignments of the
year. The Sun in Cancer desperately
reaches for security, while the Moon in Capricorn demands adherence to
duty. And with unyielding Pluto conjunct
the Moon opposite the Sun, intense emotions are evoked by fierce power
struggles.
In a Grand Cross lineup,
Uranus/ Jupiter and Saturn join the fray as they square the Sun and Moon/Pluto
and oppose each other. The unexpected
infuses our world and our personal lives. When the outer slow-moving planets
configure like this, we know that the results will be dramatic and long-lasting.
This crack in our collective psyche is way beyond super glue. Political rhetoric and cosmetic fixes can no
longer detour this crucial and much-needed turning point.

We can cover our heads and
look for mythical cover, but... It's
time to rewrite our personal and global scripts. We can try to keep pointing to outside blame
and whimper in victim mode. But that
sounds quite unattractive, as well as ineffective. We can also opt for individual responsibility
-- sweep up the broken shards of what's not working, preserve the good stuff,
and get on with the next steps. The
means for productive change are at hand if we are willing to reach for
them. Although it may be scary, we don't
have to be who we thought we had to be!
We just have to be who we are.
It's truly the best we can do and it's pretty darn good.
Still in the window of the
Lunar Eclipse, Mercury opposes Pluto on Jun
27, deepening our thoughts and even exposing our fears. But then how else can we be free of them,
unless we acknowledge their shadow?
Ideas can feel quite
personal when the Sun joins Mercury in subjective Cancer on Jun 27.
Realizations could be very helpful individually, yet may not apply as a
general concept to others.
The Moon in cool Aquarius
from the morning of Jun 28 to the
evening of Jun 30 helps provide
objective perspective for all the inner and outer upheaval. This step back may reveal some stimulating
alternative directions and unusual resources that could lead to the freedom we
are seeking. The power of the recent
Eclipse still reverberates, encouraging us to move forward and dare to explore the
gifts of a transforming world and our place within it.

"June is
bustin' out all over,
All over the

June is bustin'
out all over
The feelin' is
gettin' so intense"
--

It's
pretty much impossible to ignore the signs of something different about to
burst into the open. Fortunately for
those in the Northern hemisphere, the blossoming flowers and trees remind us
that we're still part of a greater cycle, even if personal definition is
somewhat beyond our grasp. The movement
this month may well be called the beginning of the beginning.
The
Moon in Aquarius from Jun 1 to midday
on Jun 3 broadens our horizons to
present an idealistic, yet objective, view of situations. Then, we may wonder if our contact lenses
need adjustment on the days around Jun 4,
when Mars opposes Neptune. Those of
fanatic persuasions may overdo their misguided acts. Even with the loftiest of
intentions, our aim could miss the mark, so it's best to proceed carefully.
"...I love

I got to boogie
on the disco 'round, oh yea.

Bridges/Susan Hutcheson
Action
is the theme when expansive Jupiter moves into courageous Aries from Jun 6 until Sep 9. Amplified by the Moon
in Aries on Jun 6, 7 and morning of Jun 8, sitting still is no longer a
viable option. How and where have we held ourselves back, blaming circumstance?
Even the absence of movement is a
statement in itself, so get up and boogie!
With Jupiter in the sign of leadership, each one of us gets to discover
our own personal style.
With
Mars in definitive Virgo from Jun 7
to Jul 29, precision tools are
available to craft even the most complex plan.
This detail-orientation can be quite helpful, unless the Virgo obsession
with perfection gets out of control.
Whoever
is ready for adventure, raise your hand.
Whoever is not ready, well, get ready 'cause here it is! Jumpin' Jupiter and electric Uranus conjunct
on Jun 8 and continue their spontaneous
interplay through early 2011.
"Just slip
out the back, Jack
Make a new plan,
Stan
You don't need
to be coy, Roy
Just get
yourself free
Hop on the bus,
Gus
You don't need
to discuss much
Just drop off
the key, Lee
And get yourself
free."

Change is now officially a constant. Our
ability to manage it is the latest space age sudoku of life. The unexpected is both invigorating and
challenging. Move with it. Groove with it. Grapple with it. Above all,
don't dig your heels into the past, as rigidity causes pain. If your cake falls apart, make a pie crust
with the crumbs.
The
framework for everything we think we know is changing. Our science fiction future is here now, and
our minds want to break through and keep up with it. Some events may explode while others can
liberate us. Yes, it's a bit scary and a hopeful rush at the same time. It's not only not Kansas anymore; it's a new
reality for our entire planet.
Precipitous changes to our physical earth and major upgrades to our
consciousness will sound the call to step up and take charge.
On
the evening of Jun 8, we get a
chance to assimilate this concept of future shock and tend to the needs of the
here and now, when mental Mercury trines grounding Saturn. Later that night, as Mars opposes Chiron, our
inability to conceptualize all the details of our recent visions may frustrate
us. Just let it be for now and allow the
connections to emerge.
With
Mercury square Neptune blurring focus, things may not be as they seem.
So
hold off on major decisions or contracts on Jun 9 and relax into the softness of the day.
The
pace picks up on Jun 10 as a myriad
of mental aspects have us thinking, talking, and interacting throughout the day
into the evening. Communicative Mercury
comes home into mutable Gemini until Jun
25. While focus may be scattered,
the ability to gather information and pass it on is stellar. Then the winged
messenger sextiles Uranus and Jupiter, accentuating our intellectual agility
and inventive faculties to help us keep up with our own inner changes. From the evening of Jun 10 to early morning on Jun
12, the Moon joins Mercury in Gemini and the rapid mental pace
accelerates. When Mercury squares Mars
on Jun 11, conflict can provoke
hasty words; so make your point without the use of any sharp verbal
instruments.
The
New Moon in Gemini on the morning of Jun
12 takes us for a ride on the information train. How do we navigate through the overload of
stimuli that surround us? What do we
take in and how do we utilize and pass it on? In reality, true information
comes from transmissions way beyond our earthly data sources, attuning us to a
greater galactic order and our connection with it.
Venus
in Cancer sextiles Saturn the morning of the 12th, helping us to address our values relating to home
and family as we find ways to stabilize our interactions. Then the Moon squares Saturn and may play
nay-sayer to the overwhelming number of possibilities until we rebound. Harmonious aspects to Neptune infuse us with
our spiritual knowing to soften the emotional extremes of late-night squares to
Uranus and Jupiter that shake up our stagnant beliefs. Sweet lullabies finally
send us off to dreamland as the Cancer Moon trines Chiron and the bridge from
sensitive inner self spans the space to a world of possibility.
The
nurturing Cancer Moon continues on Jun
13 and 14, bringing up our
caring, protective nature, while offering a plate of homemade cookies.
Get
out the fancy clothes and be ready for fun and play as Venus goes into Leo on Jun 14 until Jul 10. Ruled by the heart,
this regal lady is most generous and loving to those who attract her
favor. Her trine to Uranus from Jun 12 to 16, exact on the 14th, also opens
the royal doors to unexpected love, opportunities, and money. Just keep your heart open so the world can
see you.
The
theme of abundance continues as Venus trines beneficent Jupiter during that
same time, exact on Jun 15. Is there such a thing as too much good? Not in my book! Especially during these times of shift, it's
only fair to reward us along the way.
Besides, Mars trines Pluto also on the 15th, empowering us to effect great progress on our inner
and outer transformative projects.
"I feel
that if one follows what I call one's "bliss"-
the thing that
really gets you deep in the gut and
that you feel is
your life - doors will open up...
Through your own
inner experience, the divine
mystery is
revealed.

May 2010 - Part II
"Sunshine came softly through my window
today
Could've tripped out easy but I've
changed my ways."
--
Donovan
Possibilities seem
limitless as sweet connections appear from many directions on May
17. But watch the tendency to overestimate,
over-expand, and generally overdo. With a reasonable
amount of prudence, some indulgence can prove to be quite enjoyable.
Then, as the Sun sextiles Jupiter, a window of opportunity
presents an even broader range of attainable goals.
A number of aspects that
hover for days before and after come together on May 18.
Accountability is the name of the game as Venus squares Saturn
and finances and relationships may be up for audit. This
is perfect preparation to clear the field for the Venus/Neptune trine
that follows, reminding us of the real source of our inner sustenance
and visionary inspiration. Then, to seal the deal the Sun
trines reliable Saturn, providing concrete applications and support.
"Purple haze all around,
Don't know if I'm comin' up or down
Am I happy or in misery?
..."
--Jimi Hendrix
The aspects on May
19 are a mirror of the fun house our world has become. Staying
grounded is mandatory when the Sun squares Neptune, as it's easy to get
swept off our feet by romantic illusion. Fortunately, the
Mercury/Pluto trine cuts through the fog to help us sort reality from
fantasy or deception. Later, Venus throws a curve ball
when she squares Uranus and unhinges our assumptions about relationships
and money. Within hours, though, Lady Venus moves into
sensitive, home loving Cancer until Jun 14, softening
the edges of earlier disruption. When she trines Chiron
the next day, we can feel the calling to nurture those causes that would
foster a world built on more caring ideals.
Just when it seemed like
it was safe to settle down, the Sun sextiles Uranus on May 20
and we're out inventing a new kind of jig to perform. Well,
at least we're up dancing. Speaking of multi-directional
movement, there goes the Sun into Gemini until Jun 21,
filling our days with lots of mental gymnastics and social interactions.
With the Moon in Virgo
and the Sun square Chiron on May 21, we may find
ourselves ping-ponging between intellectually editorializing and
heartfelt pulls, with a twinge of criticism toward both sides. Perhaps
a yoga class or a file cabinet clean-up could remove us from the debate
and soothe our harried nervous system.
The first of three
oppositions of expansive Jupiter and contractive Saturn occurs on May
23, playing out the obvious need for real resolution of our
hyper-extended global faux economy and ecology. This
change of economic pace reveals that reorganization, patience, and
persistence are key, as there are no quick fixes. With Saturn still in
Virgo until July21, we've got the tools to assess what
is essential to take personal responsibility and make step-by-step
practical changes. The remaining repetitions will take
place on Aug 16, 2010 and Mar 28, 2011 to
continue the much needed repair toward balance and the inclusion of
people in the profit equation.
Also on May 23,
the signs that our economic and emotional debts are due are
unmistakable. Venus opposes Pluto, admonishing us that
consideration and respect are far more powerful than dominion and
control.
The Moon in Libra and
Scorpio on May 24 and 25 brings a flow
of better behaved aspects that enable us to initiate positive changes
and draw helpful assets to us. On May 26, aggression
may be tempting, but it's definitely counterproductive. Channel
the energy into a healthy workout or some robust yard work. Make
muscles and greenery, not war.
The Full Moon in
optimistic Sagittarius on May 27 is generally a time of
amplification. The big question is what gets magnified.
The Sun in Gemini is concerned with data and facts, while the
Sagittarian Moon looks to the Heavens. Certainly,
fulfilling life on Earth requires the integration of both. That
sounds pretty good, huh? Well, there's a bit more about
to break out.
Uranus, the planet of
unexpected, revolutionary innovation is moving from compliant, gentle
Pisces into fiery, independent "my way" Aries at the peak of this Full
Moon for the first time in 83 years. If we think we know the nature of
the change upon us, we know nothing - except that it's radical and
unpredictable. The good news is that brilliant new
technologies will become more available and collaborative sustainable
ventures can begin to thrive. At the same time, from May
27 until Aug 13 (when Uranus retrogrades back
into Pisces), we get a living preview of worlds gone wild because it's
time. All over the planet, heads of countries and numbers of fanatics
are flexing their biceps to prove their dominance and commitment to
dogma. The stock market and global economies most closely
resemble the tilt-a-whirl ride at Coney Island. Tornadoes, earthquakes,
and volcanic eruptions can strike with increasing frequency and
severity.
All bets
are off. The calls for fairness, freedom, and independence are also
reminiscent of the origins of the U.S. and the marches and
demonstrations in the 1960s and early 70s. Personally and
globally, it's time for a full makeover. And it's not about demanding
that anyone else fix anything for us. It's about us taking
individual responsibility for our lives, our consciousness, and our
world. Those with planets in early degrees of fire or air may suddenly
find themselves doing what they hadn't realized they really wanted to
do. Challenges may arise and plans may change, but the opportunity to
respond by sourcing from a greater destiny is also upon us because it's
time.
Mercury harmonizes with
the Nodes of the Moon on May 28, resulting in
functional plans to organize the changes we're seeking for a new
paradigm. The Moon in Capricorn from the afternoon of May
29 to the end of the month continues in the same vein and
encourages us to continue our commitment to authentic expression and
participation in an emerging structure.
Venus conjuncts the
South Node and the Moon the North Node on May 30,
reminding us of the gifts we bring to this life that support our journey
to enlightened consciousness and worldly fulfillment. Also
on May 30, Saturn begins his direct motion,
underscoring our passage into transformed behaviors and a renewed sense
of purposefulness. This forward movement can provide the
determination and discipline needed to create the organization for our
new structural realities.
On May 31,
mystical Neptune turns retrograde until Nov 16, for a
review of our entrenched beliefs and a chance to recognize and dismiss
what is no longer true for us. As we head into the
dramatic shifts of the coming times, our greatest asset will be our
ability to know truth for ourselves.

Part I
"Don't stop, thinking about tomorrow,
Don't stop, it'll soon be here,
It'll be, better than before,
Yesterday's gone, yesterday's gone."
- Christine McVie
In the blink of an eye, tornadoes plow a 149 mile swath through
Mississippi, deleting almost all in its path. Volcanic ash
plumes in Iceland halt European and transatlantic air traffic for
almost a week, disrupting the economy and countless lives. These
energetic assertions in the body of our Earth once again awaken us to
the dramatic shifts infusing our lives and our world. And
with Mercury
still Retrograde in Taurus, the looming question
becomes what do we really value? How long do we intend to
hang on to the crumbled remnants of what once seemed important?
Recently, in the midst of packing for a long-awaited trip to
Israel, my brother-in-law's stress test mandated an unexpected angiogram
and the insertion of stents for blockages. Was my
sister's focus on the cancelled trip? Not a bit! Her
response was one of concern and gratitude for the recovery of her loved
one. For, our real security and fulfillment lies in the
recesses of our hearts and the evolution of our consciousness.
So May 1 begins on an optimistic note, with
expansive aspects from the Moon to Jupiter, encouraging us to celebrate
life and dance around that Maypole. Then the Moon in
Capricorn on the next few days brings us back to more decorum (my Mother
loved that word) as aspects to Pluto and Mercury help us better
understand our own reactions.
Exact on May 3, Mercury's helpful trine to Pluto
is extended by its retrograde and direct status, deepening our
communications and our understanding of self and others for most
of May. This combination is particularly useful
for digging up information and persuading others to see your point.
Do we want to fight or focus our excess energy into more
productive pursuits on May 4 when the Sun squares Mars
and drives are revved up? With all the loose ends still
dangling, sarcastic sparring is pretty far down on my list of
preferences.
While the Moon in Aquarius should cool tempers on May 5
and 6, new ideas may be met with resistance and
irritability from Mercury, Mars and the Sun, so give the old guard a
little time and space to process.
Along with this heightened energy, there are lots of
opportunities for money, romance, and great social interaction during
the first half of May, as Venus sextiles Mars, exact on
May 7. So curl your eyelashes, shine
your shoes and your résumés, and get on out there.
The Moon in Pisces on May 8 and 9
until 5:30 pm brings up a sentimental nature quite apropos to Mother's
Day. The diversity of aspects can also lead us through a
range of emotions, with the Moon opposing practical Saturn just in time
to settle the Brunch bill. In the late afternoon, as the
Moon conjuncts Uranus, stimulating surprises may be in store for those
open to the unusual.
The instinct to move forward is strong with the Moon in Aries on May
10 and 11, but aspects from Pluto and the
Nodes counsel us to tame our impulses on the 10th
and take our cues from the tasks around us. Besides, May
11 gives us green lights throughout the day, culminating in
Mercury's direct movement at 6:22 pm. With the winged
messenger still in cautious Taurus, we can gradually begin to actualize
the projects and plans we've been researching since mid-April.
"Left a good job in the city
Workin' for the man ev'ry night and day
And I never lost one minute of sleepin'
Worryin' 'bout the way things might have been
Big wheel keep on turnin'
Proud Mary keep on burnin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river
Rollin', rollin', rollin' on the river."
- John Fogerty
The New Moon in Taurus on May
13 usually highlights our desires for financial security,
comfort, and sensual and material enjoyment. This year,
however, squares to Mars and Neptune expand our definitions of
fulfillment according to transforming personal values in a changing
world. Security for its own sake has become a moot point
and unlikely in this unstable climate. Real contentment
goes beyond our five senses to a quality of life and well-being that
emanates from our depth of self and its infinite connection. Although
inspiration may tempt us to jump into the ethers, it is the wise
integration of spirit and matter step by step that leads us to the
miraculous abundance of life on Earth. So what is your own
vision for "rollin' on the river?"
The Moon in Gemini from May 14 to 01:47
pm on May 16 livens up our interactions and makes for
interesting and effective networking. Squares to Saturn
and Uranus on the 16th could leave us
wondering where the unexpected may lead us. However, in
the afternoon Lady Luna's move into Cancer and her alliance with Mercury
produce easy communications and a general sense of mutual
understanding. With the major changes coming up in the
next few months, this feeling of mutuality and community will be greatly
appreciated.

"The wheels on the bus go round
and round,
Round and round,
Round and round.
The wheels on the bus go round
and round,
All through the town."

Even as Mercury begins his Retrograde
trek from Apr 17 to May 11, jamming the paper in our
printers and rearranging our formatting, daily life on earth still urges
us to try to maintain the mundane assembly line of functionality. At
least the U.S. tax deadline is past, except for those of us who have
opted for extensions. The backtracking movement in Taurus can require
extra patience, especially in communications or financial matters
requiring flexibility. On the plus side, this realistic messenger can
put us back in touch with some of the practical aspects we've been
missing and the chance to improve efficiency.
Fortunately, Venus and Jupiter
collaborate as resident party planners and matchmakers extraordinaire
from Apr 14 through 21, exact on Apr 17, skillfully
executing opportunities for love and abundance. So be on the lookout
for the opening doors and be ready to step through.
"Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree?
I travel the world
And the seven seas
Everybody's looking for
something."
-Annie
Lennox/David Allan Stewart
Our sweetest dreams feel close at
hand on Apr 18, as the Sun sextiles imaginative Neptune and
inspires us to reach for our creative visions.
Then the Moon in Cancer on Apr
19 to 11:42 am on Apr 21 runs us through our emotional
paces. Staying focused in the midst of deep feelings, especially on the
19th, brings us a greater sense of personal
well-being from which to operate.
On Apr 20, the Sun shifts
into earthy Taurus until May 20, enhancing the physical senses
and our desire to enjoy our comfort and the tactile pleasures of life.
Then, on the other end of the spectrum, Chiron shifts into Pisces for
the first time since the 1960s. Once again, this wounded healer offers
an opportunity to bridge our transcendent spirit with a new paradigm of
everyday life on our planet. This process, no simple task, will
continue through Feb 2019. As a sign of hope for this
spiritually ambitious goal, the Sun and Chiron harmonize in sextile also
on the 20th to commit to the embodiment of Heaven on
Earth.
The Moon's entrance into royal Leo
from midday Apr 21 to 2:25 pm on Apr 23 enhances our
self-image and builds confidence. As such, her conjunction to Mars on
Earth Day, the 22nd can recharge our desire to really
push forward, despite conservative protests from the Taurean Sun and
Mercury. Perhaps a dose of planning and irresistible Leo charm can
soothe reservations and tame the resistance.
"But it was just my imagination
running away with me.
It was just my imagination
running away with me..."
-Norman Whitfield/Barrett

The romantic world
of Venus square Neptune on Apr 23 can surely enable us to see the
highest possibility in circumstances and in people. It's fine to note
and briefly bask in the reverie; however, to avoid foolhardy decisions,
wait for landing and decompression before opening the shuttle door.
Late on Apr 23
and into Apr 24 Venus in earthy Taurus combines with Uranus and
with Saturn to magnetize stimulating relationships and resources with
long-term potential into our lives. With Lady Luna in Virgo also at
this time, our good judgment assures successful connections.
Variety is the
spice of life when Venus moves into Gemini from Apr 25 to May
19. Sociability and diversified communications keep things lively.
Venus also squares Chiron, highlighting our ambivalence between
covering lots of surface territory and maintaining compassionate
connections. Then Mercury Retrograde squares Mars and adds to the
static, tempting us to voice our impatience before vetting our
thoughts. This nervous energy is better utilized in a controlled manner
with more than a touch of diplomacy to successfully make your point.
Just at the right time, on the same day, the powerful Sun/Pluto trine
quiets all the useless chatter and heads us in the direction of
productive change and real progress.
No matter what our
preferences, one can't help but notice the opinionated extremes that
pollute our politics, disrupt our economy, and even fill our television
talk shows. Well, the fourth of five current oppositions of
conservative Saturn to rebellious Uranus on Apr 26 ripples much
more extensively than a one- day event. While daring Uranus cries "out
with the old," often including the baby in the bathwater, his
unconventional perspective is creatively brilliant. And, although Old
Man Saturn can get stuck in the cement of status quo, his ability to
create workable form is superb. In truth, these seemingly paradoxical
views are both essential to the productive healing and evolution of our
ailing world. How interesting that the last time these two potentates
were in a series of oppositions was in the breakthrough turbulent
1960s. For those of us who were there at the time and for those who
missed it, perhaps this is our opportunity to participate in a global
future that includes both perspectives for the good of the whole.
Just the phrase "Full
Moon in Scorpio" evokes theatrical images of mystery, intensity and
a world unknown and too dark to see. So that's the movie scenario of
the Full Moon on Apr 28 that could easily play on our
fears, if we didn't know better. A Full Moon usually brings to the
surface much that's been hidden or buried. As the Sun conjuncts Mercury
in Taurus, it's time to deal with situations or thinking that's been
stuck far too long, especially regarding finances and security issues.
With Mars in square to the Sun/Moon opposition, we can approach the
challenge defensively or use it to face our moldy old fears and bring
them into the light of day.
When the Moon in
Scorpio trines Jupiter and Uranus on Apr 29, our expectations for
the future ease up and solutions appear more probable. That evening, a
square to Neptune may waiver our confidence, but stalwart Saturn steps
in to reconfirm our strengthening foundation.
The Moon in
Sagittarius zooms in late on the 29th and 30th,
reviving our optimism and renewing our commitment to a brighter future.
"We are making
the historic transition from being passive observers to the dance of
nature to becoming choreographers of the dance of nature, with the
ability to manipulate life, matter, and intelligence. With this awesome
power, however, comes great responsibility, to ensure that the fruits
of our efforts are used wisely and for the benefit of all humanity...The
choice is ours. This is the legacy of the generation now alive. This
is our destiny."

April 2010 - Part I
"Somewhere, right
at the bottom of one's own being, one generally does know where one
should go and what one should do. But there are times when the clown we
call "I" behaves in such a distracting fashion that the inner voice
cannot make its presence felt."
- Carl G. Jung
It is especially
during times of change like the current one that our human ego, out of
its depth and grasping for control, attempts to drown out our
ever-present, reassuring, knowing sense. And yet, it is also during
these same times that the sound of our subtle inner radar can steadily
intensify as we acknowledge its existence on faith.
When Mercury sextiles
Chiron on Apr 1, the ability to communicate concepts that bridge
divisions is nobody's April fool. On Apr 2, Mercury follows
Venus and enters Taurus until June 10, turning our thoughts to
finance and our more earthy needs. Although the practical considerations
can be helpful, we might also be mindful of any bull-headed
stubbornness, especially with Mercury
going Retrograde on Apr 17.
The battle of the
sexes and conflicts over finances are possible on Apr 3 when
Venus squares Mars. But, positive aspects between the Moon and Sun
should keep situations reasonable.
Late on Apr 4 and
for days around it, Venus trines Pluto, bringing the prospect of
financial and relationship rebirth within arm's reach. What a perfect
metaphor for the portent of resurrection and abundance signified by the
Easter Holiday. This promise of reward and ultimate fulfillment is
particularly potent as this year Easter coincides with the week of
Passover, merging us all in the power of our true Oneness.
To keep projects
moving forward, do try a little diplomacy on Apr 5, as opinions
can get edgy when Mercury squares Mars.
Apr 6 is a
busy day on our astrological calendar. Starting out with the Moon
square the Sun, we can feel the pull between our impulsive nature and
our sense of responsibility. To sort that out, the Moon conjuncts the
North Node and we can see how fulfilling an organized plan can feel to
us. Then, Mercury trines Pluto, helping us to chart a more successful
course for economic and material solutions. Also on Apr 6, Pluto
begins his lumbering retrograde movement until Sept 13. During
this time, we get to reassess the issues and changes presented to us
since last December for deeper understanding.
Get out your seam
rippers, paper shredders, diet articles, and a lot of big trash bags.
From Apr 7 until Jul 21, Saturn revisits Virgo, imploring
us to clean up those loose ends still left dangling regarding our
health, work habits, and daily patterns. What areas were predominant
from September 2007 to late October 2009 that still need
resolution? If we missed something then, Saturn in Virgo as the
ultimate maintenance supervisor will be certain to get our current
attention. So take advantage of his expert micromanagement.
The Moon in Aquarius
on Apr 8 and 9 encourages us to explore the outer realms
of our consciousness and our human potential. With the Moon conjunct
Neptune on Apr 9, we're particularly inspired to express our
creative and spiritual sides. From the evening of Apr 9 to the
morning of Apr 12, the Moon in compassionate Pisces continues the
flow of sensitivity and imagination, urging us to follow our
dreams and perhaps help fulfill the dreams of others.
Events speed up on Apr
12 and13 as the independent Moon in Aries sets a faster
pace. On the evening of Apr 12, we could run into inner or outer
obstacles as Pluto suggests that we look more deeply before leaping
ahead. All's well that ends well, though, as the Moon and Mars get us
back on track. At the end of this lunar month on Apr 13, Venus
harmonizes with the Nodes of the Moon drawing compatible circumstances
and opportunities to support our next step.
No matter what cycle
our individual lives and world are in, the New Moon in Aries
presents a chance for new beginnings for both the month and the year.
So, on Apr 14, this first sign of the zodiac energizes and
beckons us to renew our lives. What goals do we want to carry forward
and can we release our need to achieve them in the same old way? Aries
represents the pioneer path-finder, supported by courage and trust that a
better way is close at hand. With the Moon sextile Neptune and Chiron,
we're also infused with an extra measure of intuitive knowing that
serves as our personal GPS along the way.
The Moon in Taurus
from the evening of Apr 14 through Apr 16 should
help to ground our lofty New Moon aspirations into practical
applications. Early on the 15th, Mars
in Leo may balk at the restraint, but the next two days should be
enjoyably productive. As the Moon cheerfully socializes with Mercury,
Venus, Jupiter, and Uranus, our own experiences should happily follow
suit.
"Each time we drop
our masks and meet heart-to-heart...Each time we are able to remain
open to suffering, despite our fear and defensiveness, we sense a love
in us which becomes increasingly unconditional...Awakening from our
sense of separateness is what we are called to do in all things."
